First was a crappy job that I got because I needed 'office experience'. I was there 1 year 4.5 months before I quit....

Second is the job where I work currently and a huge step up. (My own big office, business cards , and about a 28% raise. )

3 Month Probation will be over Feb 27th.

First was a continued internship that was going to convert to Full time, but start-up company ran out of funding. DId a great job of telling us it would only be a few more days/weeks before we got millions in funding. I'm owed about 10k from that stint. Others are owed a lot more. Got laid off in October. (I'd been there 13 months then) and started next job end of Nov.

Second job had a 3 month internship at $18/hr but when I convert Feb 26 to full time (already signed the paperwork) I'll get a bonus equal to what I would have been making if they had just hired me to begin with in November. Works OK for me though, since I was able to negotiate a 5k annual raise based on my performance during the first 2 months.

I'm making way more that I though I would be this soon out of school with the shitty GPA i had.

Beck, do you determine disability payments? I heard that was a stressful/high turnover job.

[Edited on April 22, 2007 at 12:38 PM. Reason : and the pay is just descent]

^^

yes, I do disability claims. It is VERY HIGH turnover. As long as you are organized you can do well at that job, but if you aren't organized you will never last. Unless you just don't care b/c they never fire any one.

Some of the claimants are difficult at times and can be very stressful (I have had people threaten suicide while on the phone with me) you just have to learn not ot let your feelings come with you to work.

Pay starts off decent for a starting job when you don't know what you want to do for the rest of your life, but after training and you become permanent, you pretty much only get raises when ever there is a state raise

i did realize the other day while working on my top secret clearance paperwork that, including the move to WA i'm about to make next month, I will have lived in 9 different places in the last 10 years (and lived at one of those places on two different occassions)
