Haha, didn't mean to jump ahead of u...just gotta find out where I can go see the fights...not thinking it's going to be a great card anyway...Mirko and Rampage annihilating a couple guys, and then a pretty average main event with Luter and Silva. Still, trying to be a good host.
2/2/2007 11:03:01 AM
I quote some saying playmakers and hooters always host the fights. but im not sure tho
2/2/2007 11:06:48 AM

Much appreciated
2/2/2007 12:19:55 PM
Travis Lutter failed to make weight at either weigh in....therefore the main event of the evening will be a 3 round non title middleweight fight
2/2/2007 9:43:42 PM
http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/headlines/default.asp?aID=18556link to the story, Anderson Silva was actually insulted that Travis didint have the respect to make weight...weighed in 187 at the official weigh in and in 2 hours was only able to lose .5 pounds (have to weigh at 185)
2/2/2007 9:49:48 PM
"I am insulted that you don't know how to use diuretics"
2/2/2007 9:51:57 PM
you cant use diuretics
2/2/2007 9:55:21 PM
you're not supposed to use steroids or blood doping agents either, but that doesn't keep them from testing positive every other week. how many different substances did your namesake test positive for last year?
2/2/2007 9:57:00 PM
1it wouldnt be wise to use a substance on the night befoe a fight when they drug test right after the eventI dont see why u find it so hard to believe someone can cut 2 pounds in 2 hours without drugs[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 9:58 PM. Reason : f]
2/2/2007 9:57:58 PM
you misunderstand. I think the fact that he COULDN'T cut 2 pounds in 2 hours shows that he was probably on diuretics. Othewise, he should have been able to shed more than 8 ounces of water out of his body.
2/2/2007 10:04:35 PM
my bad mani did misunderstandi feel bad for the people who paid for a pay perview with a 3 round non title fight as the main eventi had respect for lutter, and was expecting a good fight out of him with his jiu jitsu, but now i want anderson silva to completely beat his fuckin ass within 30 seconds, just so the pay perview buyers arent really gipped anywayand then Lutter should be relieved of his UFC contract, thats a load of crap...the fight of his fuckin life[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 10:08 PM. Reason : f]
2/2/2007 10:05:13 PM
you've wrestled before, so you should know that you can drop weight pretty fast before a weigh-in. I was always amazed at the 160 and 171 pound guys on my high school squad that could shed 3-4lbs of water just by wearing several layers of sweats and riding in the van with the heat on to away matches.I also tried to make note of where they were sitting so that I didn't ride back in their soggy seat.[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 10:09 PM. Reason : that is pretty disrespectful to the sport to not make weight for a big event.]
2/2/2007 10:08:53 PM
haha yea we had to pile on top of the guys tryna make weight in the back of that hot bus with our sweats on toowe alllll made weight
2/2/2007 10:10:14 PM
Yeah, I'd run around and play basketball and jog with the guys that were trying to make weigh-ins, and I was the heavyweight.I can't remember the last time I heard about a title bout in boxing being changed because someone failed to make weight. this doesn't reflect all too well on UFC as a sport, even though it is only one athlete.
2/2/2007 10:15:36 PM
Happened not that long ago with Joe Riggs vs. Matt Hughes. I'm still pulling for Lutter but I know his heart won't be into it. It'd be great to see him win and then get a title rematch. Ultimately it won't matter though since my boy Ace is gonna take the title back by August anyway.
2/3/2007 1:06:15 AM
so yall actually think lutter had a chance against the spider anyway?i seriously dont see nobody taking that title away from him in the ufc anytime soon. hes outta that chute box academy and they produce champions, man
2/3/2007 1:12:16 AM
Silva's looked good so far, but he's beatable. I really think Franklin will take it to him in their rematch. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nate Marquardt holding the belt in late 2007 or early 2008. Silva just isn't strong enough to outgrapple guys at 185. Even though Dean Lister will never get a title shot he'd be a nightmare matchup for Anderson Silva. All it's going to take is a guy who can take him down and ground and pound. I could definitely see Franklin doing that in a rematch, I think Lutter could have done it in this fight, hell he still might.
2/3/2007 1:27:36 AM
you say he's not strong, but did you see the way he was slinging franklin around that damn cage?it looked sad how he physically dominated him. don't let his skinniness fool ya
2/3/2007 1:30:47 AM
Franklin was done after the 6th or so knee to the body. Silva even said that Franklin was ridiculously strong. I'm sure he was pleased as punch that Rich decided to try to fight in the clinch with him. Franklin, for whatever reason, stated before the fight that he thought he'd have an advantage in the clinch. Striking from range they were about even, Rich may even have been winning those exchanges which is when Silva went for the clinch. Silva's a good champ, I'm not denying that, but he's not going to make it through too many title defenses, his ground game just isn't good enough to stack up against a great wrestler or a guy who can out-muscle him. If he fought Lindland, Lister, Dan Henderson, or a guy like that he'd lose.Anderson Silva is no Chuck Liddell. Liddell eats grapplers for lunch because he has the best takedown defense in the world. Silva got leglocked by Ryo Chonan for God's sake.[Edited on February 3, 2007 at 1:36 AM. Reason : ]
2/3/2007 1:34:54 AM
(off topic)i think people give chucks takedown too much credit. now, all the grapplers he's faced have tried to box him for whatever reason. even tito then tito had his back and did nothing with it. We gone see how good his takedown is when he faces my boy SLAMPAGE.Now, you're right about that silva thing. His weakness is definitely his ground game. He just has to keep those grapplers in distance (like chuck does) if he wants to last long at the top.
2/3/2007 1:42:34 AM
In large part people try to trade with Chuck because he's not really an attacking guy and it becomes frustrating. He's a counterpuncher, so while it looks like he's swinging a lot he's rarely the first to engage. Secondly, there are few guys who actually can wrestle with Chuck. He was a 4 year D-I wrestling starter in college. Tito was never even a starter on his college squad. Chuck's got a great sprawl and really to get him down you almost can't do it on a shot, you've got to do it via a trip or a slam (like Couture or Rampage did in their wins over Chuck).Chuck vs. Rampage 2 should be a war, but I think the cage will make it easier for Chuck to get up if he does get put back down, and as good as Rampage's standup is he can't trade with Chuck.

It's all a moot point if Shogun comes to the UFC. I pray for this every night before bed.
2/3/2007 2:11:18 AM
oh goddont mention that beast's name. Im actually praying for wanderlei
2/3/2007 2:13:16 AM
I hear that the Fox and Hound at North Hills is showing it too. That's where I'll probably go.Travis Lutter is an idiot. This is his big chance and he blew it. oh well..I'm still excited about seeing Cro Cop & Jackson. I think Patrick Cote/Scott Smith will be a good one. I can't wait for that one.[Edited on February 3, 2007 at 11:01 AM. Reason : ..]

2/4/2007 1:09:29 AM
What wouldnt i be able to find online about the fight that i can answer to verify that i watched it?The ref had huge dreds, the intial blow was a knee to lutters head, lutter fucked up at the end of the first round (followed by a funny ass silva attempted face stomp) best part was silva's dance, thats how sad it was[Edited on February 4, 2007 at 1:11 AM. Reason : ..]
2/4/2007 1:11:28 AM
the knee didnt even land dudelutter dominated round 1 and nearly finished silva with strikes from the mount, he took him down abotu 4 times, even after silva sprawled, silva didnt do anything the first round but escape the mount, which was artfully doneround 2 saw lutter get another takedown, only to get caught in a triangle that he defended for nearl 2 minutes before silva finished with elbowsi mean shit on lutter for not making weight, but he was far from looking like crap[Edited on February 4, 2007 at 1:15 AM. quenton looked unexplosive, but he admitted he was nervous as shithe got off perhaps the greatest podt fight quote of all timesomethin like "When i hurt marvin (after the uppercuts), i said to myself 'its time for some black on black crime' and finished him"
2/4/2007 1:55:15 AM
yeah i bet he was nervous. he had soo much pressure on him, and at one point i thought eastman might pull of the upset. thats probably going to be his toughest fight in the ufc (because it was his first)now he can set sail for that title. but he said he wanted like 2 more fights.i hope they dont put him up against rashad. i love both of those guys (no homo) and i would hate to see him ruin rashads chances while he's starting out. he would fuck rashad up.
2/4/2007 2:01:59 AM
i wouldnt see it has ruining rashad, im hoping rashad gets a few tough lossesthatll make him stronger, i want to see he and rampage square off
2/4/2007 2:03:20 AM
cro cop also seemed rather timid at first, but then again he was chasing the guy around like a lion and a scared gazelle.he threw some pretty devestating lefts though.. the match lasted longer than i had expected, but cro cop still showed exactly what the ufc wanted, domination.the rampage fight was pretty good i thought.and the silva fight i thought lutter actually put up a good fight. untill he got stomed in the grill from the mount[Edited on February 4, 2007 at 9:22 AM. haha the scariest thing was his face, which never changedEddie actually has my respect for taking the fight and taking the shots he took and not crumbling, dudes a warrior and i look forward to seeing him more evenly matchedthink about the people in the division that woulda said "hell no" to facing cro cop, esecially with an undefeated streak(and the blow of that fight was that one body kick to the ribs, goood GOD, eddie is a tough motherfucker)[Edited on February 4, 2007 at 1:20 PM. 2/4/2007 1:12:56 PM
haha yea, u right. he gets my props for even taking that fight. those leg kicks fuckin hurt man!!so, do you think the can take out silvia or andrei?
2/4/2007 1:14:13 PM
hell yea i think he will, I do expect them to be really good fights tho, and with good fights theres always a chace for the upsetI think tim will be more of a challenge than andrei
2/4/2007 1:21:38 PM
2/4/2007 1:26:46 PM
tim is a tough mother mantim will take a strike that andrei would fall to, andrei would actually have to defend the strikes well, which he is god with but he cant let one get throughthats jst my personal opinion, people probably think im batshit crazy
