http://www.tgdaily.com/2007/01/31/best_buy_geeksquad_vistaproblems/you've got to be kidding me. anybody actually experienced this or is it just because of people trying to install Vista on their 3yr old system? pretty funny i guess, till it happens to me

Dang. I am downloading it now, we'll see how it works out. I'm going to be sure to back a backup image of my boot drive before hand though.

i didn't have any problems during either the rc1 or the final installs. It probably depends on driver support and if you're doing an upgrade or not.

are all of you running 32 bit systems right now or 64. Let me know how it goes.

Yes, 25 minutes if you are a running an 800mhz, 256MB RAM machine. The ones I've done installs on are 2.8ghz+ and 2GB of ram or so. TOTAL install time from turning on the system and putting in the disc to seeing the login screen was 30-45 minutes, depending on how much I"m paying attention and answering prompts.[Edited on January 31, 2007 at 6:39 PM. it's fine when you do a fresh install of vista but it was a little ridiculous when i first booted an hp preloaded with vista today. took FOREVER! i'm trying to figure out if i could do a fresh install with my recovery cd's but i don't think that is possible. arghhh.

so i tried using a GParted Live CD last night to create a Vista partition on my XP drive and could not do it. After going through the prompts when booting up from the cd it would give me an error saying something about "error: exited by peer". can anybody more familiar with Linux explain how to fix this?

So i just went ahead and formated my 76gig raptor, created 50 and 20 gig partitions and installed XP back on the 50 and Vista on the 20 (everything important backed up on 2 storage drives prior to this). I'm happy with it so far and haven't had any troubles with drivers... yet. I am wondering if I should install the new ForceWare Beta Vista drivers for my 7900GTO. It already has some driver that I don't recognize installed by default and I haven't tried any games yet to see if it works or not.
