I'm trying to pick one up this weekend, I think the difficulty of driving a 4 speed manual will be compounded by it being a right hand drive[Edited on January 31, 2007 at 12:31 AM. Reason : .]

i've driven some rhd manuals in other countries. it's not that bad, you'll pick it up pretty quick.at least you don't have the complication of driving on the other side of the road also.[Edited on January 31, 2007 at 1:32 AM. Reason : .]

My dad was rural letter carrier for 20 years. Those postal jeeps are fun as hell to drive.

^Same here, father did the city routes and retired. Still turns to the right in the cab to try to step out of his regular truck sometimes.

I have two. I'm left-handed, but shifting has never been an issue, RHD or LHD.One should take extra care when turning left across traffic, and passing on two-lane roads. People will make a point to inform you that the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car, when it is quite apparently on the right side. After a couple years with a RHD daily driver, when I infrequently drove a LHD car, I used to sit down, put the key in the ignition, and jam my left hand into the door reaching for the nonexistent shift knob. The hardest thing to get used to for me was every time I rode in the passenger seat of someone else's car, I found myself frustrated I couldn't see behind by looking in the rearview mirror.

I went to Safari last year, they have notable offroad guru Bill Burke whos gonna be there this yearThe lightweight is the predecessor of the Defenders in the UK's military. It is a stripped down version of the civilian Series III Rovers made to be slung under helicopters or loaded into planes. There are were about 60,000 of them made worldwide and they are relatively rare in the US.The engine is a 2.25 Liter gas engine (4 cylinder). Interestingly enough that little thing can tow up to 2 tons. [Edited on February 2, 2007 at 1:40 PM. Reason : .]
