anyone know of a shop near lake wheeler or garner arrea that will plug/ patch my tire on the cheap. its got a screw in the crown so a plug should be alright i just dont have to the stuff to do it.

you can get a decent plug kit from advance pretty cheap. has a case, the tools, and plugs. might be a good time to invest in one, pretty handy to keep in the vehicle.

those kits are fine, buy one, plug it yourself, and keep the rest of the plugs for future use

i have plugged a motorcycle tire in an emergency in the middle of nowhere, but i damn sure didn't go more than 45 mph on it

aight i didnt really want to learn to plug a tire on my DD but i guess ill do that. your talking about the T-handle type pulg tools that u just thread a plug through, push into the tire and pull back out a little. its that about it or are there any tricks yall got.

make sure you ream the hole good with the tool to rough it up, and cut the plug off even with the tread with a razor blade. it should be really tight in there, and use some soapy water to check for leaks afterwards

yeah, what ^ said. it's not hard at all. go ahead and have the plug threaded and ready to go before you remove the screw/ream the hole.

it also helps to over inflate the tire a bit, you're going to lose air doing it especially being your first time. also helps if you pull the wheel/tires off and hold it with your knees between your legs to do it.

I'm gotten pretty good at plugging tires.

I picked up 2 screws one week. Both of the drivers side.

That $10 kit from autozone has already paid for itself.

It might be a little coincidence but they happened the following week after I got my air compressor. Made the purchase seem so worthwhile.

^^^however you can get it, screws usually come out best with a screw driver (go figure, lol). if the head is worn off, pliers will work. if it's so flush you can't get a grip on it, take the reamer and dig into the tire a bit beside it and pry it up some. needle nose can be handy also to slip around the shaft of the screw/nail and pry up against the head.

i wish i had a pic of a sidewall gash repair i had to do in uwharrie on time. about 25-30 plugs and a few pieces of duct tape.

i've plugged 3 tires on my past bikes. and i've hit over 100 on all of them many times while throwing it over on a long sweeping curve. well maybe iff on the hawk maybe ~105 bhwhahahahha.

I just had a patch done at sam's club. They said for a tire I didn't buy there it would be $3.99, but they didn't charge me. They took it off (tire from rim) plugged it and rebalanced it.

you don't have to pay for the repaired tire to be rebalanced.....but like 69 said, if they are very busy and no one is watching, sometimes they get chalk marked and put back on.

I cant recall how many months it was, but finding something like that after 3 days or three months does not change the fact it should never have happened. And no, noone else touched the car in that time. I dont just take my car anywhere. I do all my own work but dont own a tire machine, balancer, or alignment machine. If where I am working does not have any of these then I have to take my stuff somewhere. I thought taking my car to a white kid I knew at a tire store would gaurantee it not getting done poorly! Behold it got fucked up anyhow! Its all good, I got other hook ups now that dont fuck up my shit. I still dont let them touch my lugs though without watching them. got lazy and decided to sleep all morning so i didnt plug it myself and ill probablly go to Discount when i get time. seems it had to have been leaking for more than the 12 or so hours i thought it had :-x cause after i pumped it back up last night it only lost 10psi by about 11am. that should hold to drive to discount shouldnt it, once i pump it back up

it was 5 months, only a couple thousand miles. that lugnut would have not been loose if it was properly installed.

shit i didn't even know they sold plugging kits. I went to Precision on Western and they are a bunch of fuckin idiots. I watched a guy drop a whole wheel off some dude's Celica. That was the only car in front of me and it took 2 hours for it to get 2 new tires.

I was like "Do your guys know what they're doing?" and the woman told me that they had only been doin tires for 2 weeks.

I'm a dumbass.
