I have never had trouble wearing an old shitty Gap "coat" (has fleece lining, thin nylon outer surface) that I got like 10 years ago. It takes on moisture/water throughout the day, but unless you are running through snow guns on every run or are falling in slushy stuff a lot, you'll be fine.

unless you really need it in the next month or so, just wait till the spring. everything will go on sale (places like ski & sun sports, etc).

for $200 you can get a nice ass jacket. i got my snowboard jacket marked down to $65, originally was like $180 and its freakin sweet

That does look like quite a buy. Any more info on the audex kit? Can't find much of a description of its functionality/interface in a quick search.
