Wildwoods of Lake Johnson by far has the best rep of any place around Raleigh. However it's hard as fuck to get a place lately as noone wants to move. With the rent hike that happened last year this place is gold for the amount of space you get. But don't trust my word, http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/NC-Raleigh-Wildwoods-of-Lake-Johnson.htmlNote: they redid all the parking spots and created a bunch more in the process. There has been one night in the past year that I had to park more than 30 feet from my apartment building. The people who work here bust their ass to make sure everything is 100% up and running. Most of the appliances are newer (last 5 years or so) and they don't half ass things like a lot of places. Here's the biggest thing. I get absolutely nothing for recommending this place. So why would I lie?
1/26/2007 1:06:27 AM
^come on man that last line is over the top too much

Hell I have to say I like Village Green as well. I've had no major complaints.
1/26/2007 1:26:42 AM
falcon ridge - most of them have a deck...
1/26/2007 1:26:51 AM
the apartments at clarion crossing have balconies. just make sure u stay at the ones on the hill.
1/26/2007 1:28:08 AM
i second Wildwoodsi have lived here over 1.5 yrs and never had any problemsONLY concern is bugs b/c you are very close to the woods and the lake
1/26/2007 4:07:02 AM
A couple friends of mine live at Wildwoods and it's pretty nice. They've got screened-in balconies, which should be bonus points for you.I live at U Glen, bottom floor so no balcony, but I like it good all the same.
1/26/2007 5:11:20 AM
I lived at wildwoods for a year and loved it.One of the best apartments i was ever in.
1/26/2007 7:25:51 AM
1/26/2007 7:34:03 AM
Why do you need a balcony so bad? My friends lived in wildwoods and liked it, but yeah bugs were bad, especially fleas and ticks if you had pets.
1/26/2007 7:56:39 AM
i live in walnut creek....and you can get a second floor with a nice sized deck. i like it here. ive never had any problems and there's not a whole lot of college students around (actually, my neighbors include a couple in their 30's, a single young woman, a small family, and a woman in her 60's) ...so it's not really loud.
1/26/2007 8:06:11 AM
Didn't mean to sound over the top but they don't give us jack for recommending them . To give you an idea of the apartments mine is a 2 bedroom, 2 full bath with each room being the same size, one just has a private bath. The main bathroom has two doors surrounding it (look at the link) that let me control if the bathroom is in my room or if company over can use it and I still have my privacy. (map:http://www.aptbook.com/ShowRental.asp?ListingNumber=309) Click on the bottom floorplan that says priced from $875 (which is way the hell off. It's $749.50 for us). Our floorplan is reversed horizontally and we have a corner apartment. It's very quiet here and the walls are thick. We also have a fireplace which makes the apartment wonderful. We have a bottom apartment so our screen porch also has a door out to the back lawn area. Very nice. Huge glass back doors, large windows to let light in and each has screen so you can open them during warm weather. They love pets around there and even have treats sitting up at the office. I'll walk my cat up there (okay she follows) and bring a treat out to her. The internet is solid there. Nothing "shared" like some places. Electric at worst ran us $190 during that massive heatwave this summer. That was keeping the house at 70-72. Dumpsters are plentiful and emptied 3 times a week. Recycling is just a short drive away. They have a place where you can wash your car (free water hose and a nice drainage spot. Obviously for washing cars). They come by for seasonal maintanance and if you ever have anything break they have a team of mexicans that just appear and fix things. Kind of like gnomes but... mexican... and taller.I'm really going to regret leaving when I buy a house.
1/26/2007 8:24:21 AM
I can also vouch for wildwoods, probably the best you can do for the money in the area. The only reason I'm leaving is because I can't afford the commute from raleigh anymore.
1/26/2007 8:32:58 AM
I live in Wildwoods now, and I absolutely love it. I'll agree that there are some bugs at times because of the woods, but if you tell the office, they have someone in to spray that week. The only complaint I have is that Trillium loop is sometimes pressed for parking at night, but there is one assigned parking place per apartment, so we just take the car in the assigned spot. Also some of the apartments (probably about half of them) have wood-burning fire places.
1/26/2007 8:55:38 AM
I lived in U House my last year of college and no complaints + balcony = 470ish for a 3 bedroom - everything included. My ideal pick is Ivy Commons though. I have lived here since June of 2006 and I absolutely love it. Huge balcony. 460 for just rent which is great for a one-bedroom.Look in to it, but look fast. They fill up very quickly. I will be moving out of my apt May 31 though.
1/26/2007 9:31:17 AM
i agree that wildwoods at lake johnson is nice.the screened in porch is great.my friend lived in a 1 bedroom and everything was very clean and well taken care of.-------if you are looking for another place though, four seasons at umstead is ok. it's right beside umstead park which has a lot of running/biking trails.you can get a 2 bedroom 2 bath for $699. 1080sq ft.smallish porch enough for 4 people. reviews on apt ratings aren't great, but they aren't terrible either.the office staff could be better at times, but that's about it. they fix shit on time and you know the repair people by name. appliances are pretty new.parking spaces are sometimes a problem.some of the people don't clean up after their pets.3rd floor living is nicer/quieter, plus it's warmer.right off of 70.the ONLY thing i hate about the place is the sliding door in the bedroom. it's retarded. plus it leaks a LOT of air. i've sealed it, so it helps, but the majority of people don't know any better and they have a freezing/hot bedroom. the rest of the apartment keeps temp great.[Edited on January 26, 2007 at 9:40 AM. Reason : also it's newer, built in the late 90's. insulation is better.]
1/26/2007 9:38:15 AM
umsted is kind of far away, so this wildwoods place, does the rent include everything?if not, how much would you say you pay per individual per month for EVERYTHING.also, what about the police?I dont really need the apartment to be a quiet complex, I would like to live amongst other heathens such as myself, and I know RPD displays their faggotry quite often in regards to parties, so a complex less likely to get harrassed by the police is a bonusand to the one who asked about the balcony, I just like balconies, kind of like my dad has a requirement for houses that they must have a porch. I like outdoor seating areas
1/26/2007 4:17:10 PM
^Very few apartments include everything, unless its one of those that is basically like the dorms.

u house has no balconies
1/28/2007 10:06:33 PM
I've only lived in Cary during my time here and I can't complain at all, though the apartments I've been at were nothing special and steep in comparison. It's very safe (near Cary Parkways) and all things considered there is basically everything I need, except any element of social atmosphere. On the downside, you'd think the drive wouldn't be that bad but you basically invest a half an hour each way.

1/28/2007 10:26:06 PM
Village Green isn't that expensive and it does include EVERYTHING!I have a 3 bedroom and each roommate pays their individual part of the rent- (i.e. if that person doesnt pay, it doesnt affect anyone else in the apt) For the 3 b/r each roommate pays $433... I think thats good to include everything. All rooms come with individual mini-fridges and individual bathrooms. 2 out of 3 rooms are walk in closetsEvery apartment comes with a 36 inch (ish) TV, W/D, and Balcony. Fully FurnishedParking is great! There are always tons of spots open. We also have the couch trip bus to take us to and from campus. Thats really convienent.[Edited on January 28, 2007 at 10:41 PM. I like my place in Hunters Creek, although I wish it had more windows (the living room area has no sunlight ) and better insulation.
1/28/2007 11:29:16 PM
love my apartment: cameron court off of hillsborough st towards downtown. hardwood floors, quiet non-student neighbors, big windows, built in the 1920's, best maintenance/landlord ever, *very* fair rent, parking.
