Starts today vs. Denmark. 4:50 on ESPN2 from the Toolbox, so watch after the Duke/State game finishes. First ever game for new manager Bob Bradley. He's setup on an interim basis, so he needs to prove his worth. (Although Carlos Quieroz is in the rumor mill for the permanent job.)Not an international date so we have an all MLS lineup except for 2 guys that play in the Danish league. It's an all Danish league based team for Denmark. Here's our 18 players on the roster. Starting lineup not yet released. Looks like a blooding new talent game.1 Cannon, Joe GK 2 caps/0 goals Los Altos Hills, Calif. Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS)3 Bornstein, Jonathan D 0/0 Los Alamitos, Calif. lots of new faces. should be interesting to see how they perform.
1/20/2007 11:13:35 AM
Quieroz won't leave Man U after the way the USSF shat on him the last go round
1/20/2007 11:18:26 AM
thanks for bumping this, jeez http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=441165i'm curious though to see how the cannon kid looks at goalie, i've heard good things - haven't seen him play yet
1/20/2007 11:29:37 AM
^ That Cannon kid is 32.

Halftime. 1-1.Denmark went up 1-0 off a header from an inswinging cross. Conrad and Albright at fault.A few minutes later we then got a penalty when Rico Clark was taken down. He got his jersey pulled right outside the box, but the Canadian ref gave us the pk. A bit lucky, but oh well. Donovan after a very long time takes the pk. The Danish keeper got to the ball but it still went into the net. Donovan's first goal for the nats since July 2005 in the Gold Cup.

1/20/2007 6:04:46 PM
Clark plays for the Dynamo. Been there/San Jose for the past few years.
1/20/2007 6:10:21 PM
guess he hasnt really stood out to me, i just have a hard time watching and staying entertained with the mls, and im a huge soccer fan
1/20/2007 6:11:20 PM
Just started watching 5-10 minutes ago, but has Eddie Johnson been this bad all game? It looks like he doesn't give a shit
1/20/2007 6:16:21 PM
^^ You'll be surprised, Landycakes actually had a good first half. He was aggressive for once.^ Yes, he has been awful the whole game.[Edited on January 20, 2007 at 6:17 PM. Reason : /]
1/20/2007 6:16:31 PM
GOAL USA!Justin Mapp had an awesome run, going between 2 defenders and beats them and on the baseline flicks it off to Jonathan Bornstein, who scores a goal in his first-ever cap.[Edited on January 20, 2007 at 6:23 PM. Reason : /]
1/20/2007 6:22:06 PM
nice
1/20/2007 6:27:06 PM
I cannot believe Arena is doing this game... he has to feel like a bitch
1/20/2007 6:35:51 PM
^ he's getting paid
1/20/2007 6:42:38 PM
3-1 USA. Kenny Cooper in his international debut.
1/20/2007 6:45:33 PM
1/20/2007 6:52:17 PM
^ ??? He's an NC State grad if that's what you're driving at.FT. 3-1 to the Sammies. Good game, but we'll find out more about these guys when they play Mexico in Phoenix in a couple weeks.
1/20/2007 7:02:23 PM
play lose to Mexico
1/20/2007 9:07:42 PM
If you're not up for watching our 2 hated rivals in basketball, on ESPN2 at 9:25 is USA and Mexico from a sellout crowd at the Arizona Cardinals' stadium. ESPN2 will be having a pregame from 9 to game start.USA brought in 4 Europeans while the Mexicans brought in all their heavy hitters. New coaches for both countries since their last meeting in September 2005.Here's the likely lineups for the Sammies and El Tri. USACoach-Bob BradleyTim HowardChris Albright-Jimmy Conrad-Carlos Bocanegra-Jonathan BornsteinRicardo Clark-Pablo MastroeniClint Dempsey-Chris ConveyLandon DonovanTaylor TwellmanMexicoCoach-Hugo SanchezOswaldo SanchezRicardo Osorio-Rafa Marquez-Carlos Salcido-Jimmy LozanoPavel Pardo-Gonzalo PinedaAlberto Medina-Neri CastilloCuauhtemoc BlancoJared Borgetti[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 7:16 PM. Men's soccer?Lollercaust.
2/7/2007 7:22:47 PM
okay Deuce, here's an opportunity to further take command of this team as the most entertaining and watchable playerand Landon, take notes from him on how to not be a pussy
2/7/2007 7:29:02 PM
^ Dude, the guy's a wigger.I never saw much in Dempsey's game that impressed me. He scored a goal in the World Cup. I think that's all he's ever done. All other games I've seen him in he's languid at best.[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 7:53 PM. Reason : .]
2/7/2007 7:52:20 PM
probably a dumb question, but why isnt Onyewu on our roster?
2/7/2007 7:53:10 PM
^ Just got loaned to Newcastle.
2/7/2007 7:53:52 PM
Yeah because being a wigger has so much to do with soccer ability
2/7/2007 7:56:00 PM
It doesn't. But I'm calling him John Cena from now on. "Word life muthaf*cka!"Watching Illinois-Northwestern and it is at halftime. They just put on Wynalda for a minute prepping the USA-Mexico game and he was surrounded by Mexican fans. He said "YOu wouldn't think it but we are actually in the United States. We are inside the country's border. We're gonna see a lot of these people tonight." He then asked an 8-year-old with a Mexican wrestling mask in front of him who is going to win tonight. The kid said "Mejico." Wynalda: "We'll see about that."Funny just cause of Wynalda's known disdain for our rival and their fans.[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 8:07 PM. Reason : .]
2/7/2007 8:07:08 PM
damn, i wish i saw that, was watching back to the future for no reason
2/7/2007 8:11:49 PM
FYI. Copa America draw next Wednesday on Valentine's Day.
2/7/2007 8:39:17 PM
Is Bruce Arena just a terrible broadcaster, or does he hate O'Brien & Wynalda that much?I know I hate O'Brien, but I'm not being paid to talk to him.
2/7/2007 9:05:15 PM
he's quite poor
2/7/2007 9:05:51 PM
wow Jens Lehmann talkin about Tim Howard, interesting
2/7/2007 9:07:33 PM
Umm...yeah. So pregame Tim Howard went to save a ball for practice and landed on a nail with his elbow. He's okay and just taped it up. Nevermind, still doing pregame crap.[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 9:18 PM. Reason : .]
2/7/2007 9:16:52 PM
yea i saw that, wtf is a nail doin on a field?
2/7/2007 9:17:39 PM
Nice to see ESPN2 do a pregame and show both anthems and the walking out of players.
2/7/2007 9:24:31 PM
Even game. USA attack is lacking. Very surprising. Mastroeni keeps kicking the ball in the stands.Dempsey is being shut down by the Mexicans.Rolfe and Donovan aren't connecting with the midfield.[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 9:55 PM. Reason : .]
2/7/2007 9:53:49 PM
hah seriously...
2/7/2007 9:54:11 PM
I could deal with not having to listen to Arena all game
2/7/2007 10:07:08 PM
Very very blah first half. One shot, one corner kick for the USA. Mexico are more active and they're constantly chasing the ball and giving the USA when USA has possession little room to operate. Convey's had some good runs but can't cross. Bornstein is having a baptism of fire of sorts in the back, but is playing well, as is the rest of the backline. And our best chance was a run and shot by Landycakes. Best chance for Mexico was a Borgetti header off a corner that was just wide.[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 10:16 PM. Reason : .]
2/7/2007 10:16:08 PM
yea the first half blew, hopefully things open up for the US in the 2nd half
2/7/2007 10:17:30 PM
crappy game, almost as bad as that england/spain game i watched todaybut maybe that means we'll see a sweet 2nd half goal in this one too
2/7/2007 10:23:40 PM
HELL YES
2/7/2007 10:39:38 PM
CONRAD!!! yes!
2/7/2007 10:40:09 PM
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!! Jimmy Conrad off a Landon Donovan corner kick!
2/7/2007 10:40:11 PM
arena was mentioning we looked good in practice with set pieces, its good to see it shows
2/7/2007 10:40:44 PM
this game just got good in the last 10 minutes
2/7/2007 10:56:53 PM
How many near goals and a beaten defense will the Mexican team have without a goal? Ever since the U.S. goal they've been charging at us like a mofo.
2/7/2007 10:57:26 PM
dammit convey, blast that in
2/7/2007 11:01:08 PM
