'97 nissan 240Driving today the top radiator hose broke off, taking part of the newly installed radiator with it (3rd time this has happened, and I'm not overtightening the clasp). Anyways, I ghetto-reattached the hose to the radiator and bled the system and drove it back. Somwhere along the line I'm pretty sure the engine stopped ciculating coolant. The engine still runs fine, but there is a really loud chirping noise from the front or top of the engine. I am hoping it is the water pump, but I have heard a bad waterpump before and it didn't sound like this. The water pump in the car was replaced about 6000 miles ago by some retards at the dealership. I will probably get a new waterpump and install it on the car myself, but I wanted someone else's opinion on the automobile. If the engine is shot then there is no point in installing a new waterpump.Anyways, the car is on campus and I was wondering if anyone who has some knowledge about these things would have a chance to look at it sometime this weekend for a few bucks. Please PM me. I will be around all weekend, if you come look at it I can give you a lot more details on the history of all these problems. Thanks guys.

Radiator cap?

Did you ever replace your thermostat? Is your head gasket blown and pressurizing your cooling system?

T stat was replaced. The engine feels normal and the oil and coolant arn't mixing anywhere so I hope there is no head gasket involved, I'll comp test it as soon as possible. If there head involved I will rebuild the engine with some new internals to set it up for boost, but I really don't want to deal with that right now.

I once had a head gasket breech just between a cylinder and a water jacket, so there was no oil coolant mix. Try running the engine with the radiator cap removed and look for bubbles in the flow.

I bled it until it stopped bubbling, and no more bubbles came out.I'm going to order a koyo radiator (the stock radiator has plastic endtanks that keep breaking), a new water pump, and a new T-stat. If that doesnt fix it then I will get a new engine KA24DE's are really cheap and easy to find anyways.
