That when I select all and click properties, it adds up to like 4gb worth of files. I assume it's some sort of linking, but I can't figure out how it's being done to figure out which files are real and which aren't.

That may or may not be the cd I have. So, how do they accomplish that? I assume there is one directory that has all the files common to all the distros, then in each different flavor, they have just a few files that are different. And I am sure this is all accomplished by some sort of file system/structure trickery. But I can't figure out how it is done.

yeah, I also wanted to know how it was done. I think it just uses linking/toc edits to link to the replicated files in each install for every "instance" (version) of the disk. it would be slick to figure out how to do this though

Clearly, if I were as so retarded to be holding a DVD thinking it was a CD, I wouldn't have a clue what "linking" was. Give me a break dude, even a retard would take then thing out to make sure it was indeed a CD and not a DVD.

linking is a general term and could still be used in an ignorant sense.

but yeah, we're getting offtopic.
