The latest Internet rumor is that PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi is headed to UFC for a short stint much the same way Chuck Liddell did a couple of short stints in PRIDE. So far this is only an Internet rumor. From what I've seen of other Internet rumors in MMA, the ones about Cro Cop, Rampage, and Heath Herring coming to UFC all turned out to be true, but the ones about Aleksander Emelianenko coming to UFC and Tim Sylvia fighting Fedor have yet to materialize, so Internet MMA rumors, like all other rumors, have mixed truth to them. I would wait to hear/read something from a credible source to believe it.

I can't do anything about the music, so I won't take the blame. As far as the February UFC is concerned, Serra was scheduled to fight GSP, but GSP pulled out due to an injury he sustained in training, and Serra decided not to fight a replacement because he didn't want to screw up his title shot. Anderson Silva will still make a human punching bag out of fight Travis Lutter for the middle weight title.

What's wrong, you don't like grappling matches?

Why would Gomi go to the UFC to fight Serra? Serra can't even win The Ultimate Figther, and you would want to see what many consider the #1 155 pounder come over and fight him? Maybe as a warm up match, but the real match-ups would be Gomi-Sherk and Gomi-Penn II. Gomi would go right through Sherk. Penn would be a different story, he already beat Gomi once. Would Pride love for Gomi to come over and run through the 155 lb divison? Yes. Will UFC allow him to come over and do it, doubtful. This wouldn't be a Cro-Cop to UFC deal where Cro-Cop is really a UFC fighter now. It would be borrowing a fighter, a lot like when Liddell went over to Pride. UFC doesn't need to do this, Pride does. Same thing with Wanderlei, it's Pride that needs the publicity, not UFC.

Why would I want Gomi to fight Serra instear of a top LW like Penn, Sherk, Pulver, Fisher (yes, I said Fisher -- consider the can of worms opened), etc? That's why I posted that link to that YouTube video and told you to "click the link to see what I'm talking about".

BTW, here's a source other than an Internet message board. I don't know how credible this source is, but it looks more credible than a thread on some forum.

You're right, Serra did win the Ultimate Fighter. For some reason I was thinking about Patrick Cote.

That's kind of why I thought you wanted to see Gomi vs. Serra, I guess I read too much into that statement. It shouldn't be a suprise that he lost to Serra at the ADCC, 2 out of his 3 MMA losses have been to BJJ experts in Penn and Aurelio. It's pretty safe to say that Gomi isn't going to win a ADCC anytime soon.

^ If you look at Gomi's record, you'll see he's got a lot of submission wins, but they are all by one of 3 holds

1) RNC
2) Kimura
3) Arm Bar

My point is he's never won by a submission he got off his back. He is relatively weak on his back, and that's why Aurelio was able to choke him out.
