omg...I can't wait until this movie comes out on DVD so people in the states can see it. I saw it last night....omg. Hitler in the bathtub playing with a toy battleship (as opposed to a rubber duck)....classic.

the reviews ive read say its pretty shitty
1/15/2007 10:28:19 AM
they would. the reviews are written by Germans. I'm not saying it's a substantive movie. and I'm sure as hell not saying it should win an Oscar or anything. what I AM saying is that I laughed my ass off. continue.
1/15/2007 10:29:59 AM
actually, i havent read any german reviews
1/15/2007 10:30:40 AM
yeah...the German reviews are basically "uhhhh it's really not funny to make a joke out of Hitler" and apparently some people are offended to how he appears to be a bumbling idiot. hmmmm. whatever. i thought it was funny. decide for yourselves.

I just finished reading Eva Braun by Angela Lambert and privately, he did come off as boring, egomaniacal, self important, and at times foolish. He'd cut up with his dog, beat the crap out of her for screwing up or disobeying, and get all sentimental the next moment. It's not so impossible for a dictator to think he's the last Teutonic knight publically practicing celibacy and pushing a racial purity policy while he secretly carries on an affair and refuses to father children because of his defective genes. It won't be the first time a politician has a radical schism between his/her private life and public face. I think a lot of people are bothered by having to acknowledge that he was a human and not an abstract force of 100% Evil.

the guy was high all the damn time in the last two years

i always imagined that in private Hilter had a Dreidel and would spin it and sing "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel!"

Nah, the dog thing is characteristic German brand sentimentality. They will start sobbing over a crushed flower or a sad dog but ovens and genocide are easier to ignore.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know whenBut I'll know we'll meet again some sunny day.Keep smiling through, just like you always do,till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.So will you please say hello, to the folks that I know, tell them I won't be long. They'll be happy to knowthat as you saw me go, I was singing this song - We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know whenBut I'll know we'll meet again some sunny day.
