You gettin robbed. DIY for about a third of that.
1/13/2007 12:06:35 PM
if i were to say "i want to find a wolfwebber to do this...how much should i offer a wolfwebber to do this?"what would you say
1/13/2007 12:07:40 PM
skip the fuel system and do the air filter yourselfget them (or another shop) to do the transmission flush and belts.the best transmission flushes are going on at transmission shops. you could try and find a transmission shop that also employs a general service mechanic... hmm
1/13/2007 12:10:21 PM
In your opinion, did this guy leave anything off that might need to be changed, for good measure, at about 100k?Is this like common lingo, like if i call a transmission shop do i say "do you employ a general service mechanic"?]
1/13/2007 12:11:58 PM
LOLhas the timing belt been done? google it and find out when it is due on your car.

1/13/2007 1:19:11 PM
well i was told at 75k that is when they are supposed to be checked....guy checked my car and said something to the effect that "i cant find something wrong with this car"he said at 100k it should be changed anyways thoughI'd rather get like everything done that this car could use...figure it might need like new spark plugs, etc.
1/13/2007 1:39:25 PM
timing belt is one thing you DON'T want to fuck with. Get that done at the recommended interval. If you've gone 25K past the recommended interval, get that done right now.

thank you very muchon a related note...my back right door lock does not work...my dome light hasnt worked since may 05, i gotta like change a fuse or somethingin like november i was told by a tire guy that i had good breaks...my break light is about 80 percent of the time onsometimes it will never come on for like maybe a week or a month but for like 3 years its always came on-bugs the shit out of meany other things i could do that are between like 50-100 bucks that would help out the car?
1/13/2007 7:50:32 PM
If that cost includes timing belt, then by all means do it. But it probably doesn't include timing belt. The fuel system thing they SAY they do involves removing the injectors and giving them a thurough cleaning. I wouldn't flush the tranny, just drain and refill. Hell I never flushed any of my tranny's. One car was 286k another 278k and the one I have now is an auto and I just changed the tranny fluid at like 180k.

Trans flush- reasonable rateAir Filter- Bend over pleaseFuel System- We clean the throttle body, add a gas tank additive, and clean the injectors. They aren't removed, but they do get cleaned out.Belts- Not the best price, but not outrageous for shop costs.Or, you talk to me since you know I work there, and then I do the shit on the side for less than half of what they want.

god u are the man...did u see my thread in chit chat?

I can tell you this: the most important thing you need to have done is THAT DAMN TIMING BELT. On a Honda, replace your water pump and all your engine's front oil seals at the same time. Oh...and for a '98 Accord, the timing belt change interval is 115k miles.
1/14/2007 7:01:42 PM
according to leith honda, they dont recommend transmission flushes, and he said they just drain and refill it or something...said that its 59 bucks[Edited on January 22, 2007 at 4:27 PM. Reason : .]

And a good point. I do NOT like the idea of flushing high-mileage transmissions, though when the tranny cooler line on me Dodge sprung a leak, I pretty much had no choice but to keep dumping fluid in there until I could get to it.
1/22/2007 9:07:21 PM
yep, flushes aren't the best idea unless someone really takes their time and does it right. pulling/disconnecting the cooler, etc. way to easy to break some junk loose, plug a line/passage, and fry it.

1/22/2007 11:13:58 PM
true. i really like that place now. they used to be useless for anything but vw stuff.
1/22/2007 11:35:25 PM
what is the deal with t-hoff.can i just roll up in there and buy stuff?
1/22/2007 11:50:55 PM
yeah, it's open to the public. they have a small store/parts counter area in addition to the warehouse/machine shop.[Edited on January 23, 2007 at 12:32 AM. Reason : .]
1/23/2007 12:31:52 AM
so 55.21 to get a "transmission service" at leith hondahope it was worth it[Edited on January 25, 2007 at 2:19 AM. Reason : some guy on tww said he'd beat 300 for a timing belt change, thats all i gotta do now]
1/25/2007 2:18:37 AM
you got ripped at honda.[Edited on January 25, 2007 at 8:04 PM. Reason : better than noting i suppose]
1/25/2007 7:59:23 PM
depends on what they did. likely they didnt do a flush but a fluid capacity exchange. hondas have internal transmission filters.
1/25/2007 8:05:26 PM
which honda's?i'm guessing you mean non user serviceable, but i'm just making sure.[Edited on January 25, 2007 at 8:45 PM. Reason : eh]
1/25/2007 8:44:43 PM
All Hondas that I know of. Honda automatics traditionally have been totally different in design than everybody else's (no planetary gearsets).
1/25/2007 9:01:21 PM
yep i went to specifically get like honda fluids and stuff...some guy told me each honda has like a specific transmission fluid thats designed for the car or something
1/25/2007 9:27:39 PM
that was a lie. its chemically no different from chrysler ATF+3 or whatever
1/25/2007 9:29:36 PM
all of it's highly friction modified, or HFM.
