I've been to Second Empire twice for special occasions, and I believe the Farrington (sp?) House is more pricey, although I've never been there myself.

Of course, order enough wine at Second Empire, and it'll take the crown.

Farrington House is hands down the most expensive resturant in the area. Followed by Four Square and Fairview, but they arn't in raleigh

Second Empire is the nicest resturant in Raleigh followed by Sulivan's, it isn't as expensive. Not to mention its corporate and the food isn't that fabulious. Nelsons just opened in cameron village then their claim to fame is being over the top ridicuios and espense. Jk's in North Hills, you wouldn't think is that expensive, but it is. And I have heard nothen but the best about their food. An in cary is to die for if you like asian cuisine.

Eh...i would disagree.

I'd rather eat at Bloomsbury Bistro, Magnolia Grille, Fin's, Margeaux's, or Enoteca Vin any day than Second Empire. And Sulivans is just a glorified steakhouse. A damn good steakhouse, but not that imaginative.

I <3 opinions

i havnt been but looking at the menu second empire is not expensive at all. its not cheap but i wouldnt put it in a list of most expensive restaurants.

sullivans
angus bard
carvers creek

are the most expensive ones mentioned so far. i hear there is a mortons coming to fayetteville street so i guess that will take over the top spot since raleigh doesnt have many very expensive places.

what about capital city club and cardinal club?

What's that restaurant where you can sit in the kitchen with the chef? I'd imagine that would be quite pricey.

In addition to the above you also have

The State Club
An ( I second this)
Herons at The Umstead

Second Empire is good, the few times I have been have been impressive.

I guess it depends on if you want a "steak house" or seafood or just high dollar entree's

I have been wanting to try Margeaux's for a while as I saw their site and looked it over? is it recommended?

sullivans isnt that bad usually, but if you raid the wine list is when it goes through the roof.

app, meal, and side will run like $50/head, no drinks.

of course, on avg. add ~$20 for 2 or 3 drinks, more if drinking wine

Nana's chophouse? or any other steak houses? I haven't been there specifically so I don't know, but i figured I'd throw it out there. If it was my bet, I'd pick a place that is a la carte instead of full meal... it seems like that would make for a more expensive restaurant

If you can find a steak joint that sells kobe beef (also called wagyu sometimes) that'll be the most expensive restaurant.

^Where can you get Kobe beef? The only place I've ever seen it is on the $7 burgers at Hi-5.

The most expensive dinner I had in raleigh was at the Cardinal Club. dinner for two was close to $400 - granted, we had a private room with a sweet view of downtown, 5 courses, and wine.

The real question is your definition for most expensive. Is it for a one person meal, like drinks, appetizer, entree, and desert? A tasting menu? If you add in, for example, different wine possibilities it will be pretty tough to tell. If you're strictly talking Raleigh city limits, all the top ones are very similar.

Fins is expensive and good

depends on what you're basing this on.

average check?
most expensive entre?
if you include all course and a bottle of wine (say mid price).....

I don't think Sullivans is that expensive.
Angus Barn can be. so can Second Empire
Bloomsbury Bistro was excellent the one time i went.
Hell we had a $100+ check at Michael Deans the other night (and you can eat there much cheaper)

Enoteca Vin is pretty damn pricey too. (and very good)

And as others have said, this is a pretty subjective. I can run up a $300 at fucking applebees if i drink enough.

most expensive entree?
highest average entree price?
highest average 3 course price?

Most upscale and traditional european restaurants are. Dinner is usually a minimum 2-3 hour event.
