I'm thinking about canceling my TWC because I only watch 24, Lost, & Heroes (and some football/basketball games). Everything I watch comes on the basic network channels which all broadcast HD over the air. The only problem is that I record all the shows on my DVR and watch them later.I was thinking of getting TiVo to save cash but still be able to record the shows I want to watch.* TiVo should work in the new setup right?* Unless I get the series 3 TiVo, I guess I can't watch recorded shows in HD, right?* Will there be an issue with 24 & Heroes coming on at the same time?

I run Ubuntu at homeI have an extra machine with new drive, but I think short term getting TiVo will be less expensive and less hassle

Does basic cable have HD signal for QAM tuners? You could get a QAM tuner card for your PC, but you would still need dual tuners to record two shows at once.[Edited on January 11, 2007 at 4:26 PM. Reason : HD]

Which channels are available free-to-air?

yes, all you need is basic to get qam, which as far as I'm concerned is worth the $12/month.

If you have roadrunner, wouldnt you get basic as well as the QAM channels too? I know people with only RR who get expanded basic, but they dont have QAM tuners for me to verify that this is true.
