Anyone there/know someone that is there?Sounds pretty interesting. If I did it, I would definitely want to use the option of going back to law school after working for 2 years (granted, it would be part time, therefore taking 4 years instead of 3), but then being able to go into patent law sounds awesome to me

I know a PhD scientist who went to work there and he didn't like it at all. He wasn't a lawyer though, so I don't know how well it applies to your case.

It would be for patent examination for 2 years

You'd definitely make some bank being a patent lawyer though. Every corporation needs them and likes to pay them $$$$.

it's one of those jobs that sounds great in theory....but is probably boring as fuck.

lots and lots of research is involved but they make bankor at least our patent lawyer does

^^ aren't most jobs? This opportunity is coming at a pretty bad point in my life now however, and it's making it hard to decide. Steady g/f of over 2 years just got a new job in Gboro, so unless I pop the question and support her she's probably not going to just up and come with me...so that would be a 4.5 hour long distance relationship, which would suck

yeah, most jobs are, to a certain extent..But think about the investment you are about to make, knowing what the job will be like... Just think of all the paperwork... yikes.I considered going down this path when I got out of school... I am kind of glad I didn't.

Long distance relationships suck, but if the two of you can survive it for any length of time, it makes it easier to take that next step.

it's one of the most mindnumbingly boring jobs ever. At least that's what I've been told. Apparently a LOT of kids go to law school for patent law (because of the $$ potential), and upwards of 80% of them switch to criminal or civil law

having been offered a job there...and seeing the work I would have had to done....I passed on themBORING work

I'm an examiner. I also spent the first year as an examiner with a long distance gf in gso. It's do-able!

Also keep in mind you would be working for a highly bureaucratic system. Some people do really well in an organization that has that sort of structure and enjoy "mastering" the procedures already set in place. Others would want to shoot themselves first because of the lack of flexibility. Make sure you know which you are if you plan to make a career out of this.
