yeah, this one ncsu student was going to get this done, and she died. So, definitely go for the cheapest one you can find.

^ I had forgotten about that.

that girl was from ncsu? i remember the girl who died from the cream that they gave her, but that place was in chapel hill or durham i think. and maybe i should have said any HELPFUL input is appreciated.

IIRC, she was on 40, in transit to/from raleigh[Edited on January 9, 2007 at 10:26 AM. Reason : e]

yeah, the place she was getting it done at was here in Raleigh, and she just had problem with the in-house prescription cream she put on beforehand. The only thing I know about laser hair removal is that not everyone's a good candidate. You should find out if you are a good candidate.
1/9/2007 10:43:26 AM
^yeah, depends on the contrast between skin/hair color i believe...

http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=News&id=2633185thats crazy..but hopefully there are better warnings for people now about the lidocaine. they used the same stuff on me when i got my belly button pierced...i guess she just used way too much of it. scary...but wouldn't keep me from getting laser hair removal. and about being a candidate, the ideal person has dark hair and pale skin. the lighter your hair or the darker your skin the less effective the laser will be i think.

sweet, that's me! how much for my whole body below my neck?
1/9/2007 10:52:46 AM
You shouldn't need topical anesthetic for a laser.
1/9/2007 10:59:49 AM
i've condidered it on my neck. Can they do that? I know I never want to grow a neckbeard...so I can get rid of that forever without any regrets.
1/9/2007 11:10:23 AM
^I've been thinking the same thing.
1/9/2007 11:25:22 AM
is that the cost per appointment or just in general, cuz thats damn cheap and i might do that275 for a whole chest and ab one, wow.i've heard like near 1k

If your hair is blonde it wont work. I looked into it about 2 years ago at my dermatologists office. She said the darker your hair is the better it works. It also kinda hurts and can take more then one go round to get it done. I go to Raleigh dermatologyhttp://www.skinsolutions.com/
1/9/2007 12:11:38 PM
yeah I have really light hair all over my body and I was told they couldnt do it because my hair wasnt dark enough
1/9/2007 12:25:30 PM
I'm kind of curious too. That dermatology pros seems really cheap. I would have expected it to cost more than that, then again, i have never seen any other prices for it.

I'm curious as to why the hair color has anything to do with how effective it will be?

^ Learn how lasers work, please.

in all seriousness, can they do something about the hair in my butt crack?i really don't care for it
1/9/2007 2:45:12 PM
^They'll absolutely remove that hair for you. Permanently. A few to several sessions and you won't have to worry about it again!

I wouldn't mind getting some hair removed permanently. Those 10 pesky chest hairs are sometimes annoying

I highly recommend Sona Med Spa off of Jones Franklin. I know several people who have gotten 90% of their body done, and I have gone there as well and have been very pleased with the results thus far. It usually takes an average of 4-5 treatments for the hair to be gone forever, and they can only be done every 3 months so if you aren't planning on staying in the area for a while then it might not be for you.

Check out Sona Med Spa... if you want a lot done at once they'll work out some good package deals for you... seriously though, do not go with "cheapest is best" in this field... go check out a few, get facility tours, sit down and talk to their pro's and their in-house doctor. If you don't see LOTS of state certifications then bounce.Seriously though, visit a lot and go with the place you feel is the best. Also, ask for testimonials or reference you can call and talk with. Lots of places that have past clients that will chat with you on the phone about their experiences.http://www.amedispa.com/ is a client of my company... let me know if you go with them and I may be able to send a discount card your way... not sure if it applies to laser hair removal

how in the holy fuck did i not see this thread until now
1/12/2007 12:53:10 AM
It doesn't work. I mean, permanently at least...it was great for a while. I had 5 rounds (for $850) and it lasted about 6 months...what happens is that the laser permanently disables the hair follicle's that are currently growing...but not the ones that are not growing. And your body constantly produces more hair. So you get rid of 5 rounds of growing hair, but eventually more will grow.

^Yeah, so you keep going.(What part of your body did you get it done on?)[Edited on January 12, 2007 at 9:08 AM. Reason : ssss]

^^It does affect everyone differently though. I've heard of people going 5 times and having hair grow back...I've also had a best friend go 5 times and she's still hair free (2.5 years later)...
