One of our servers at work died and I could not rebuild the RAID array. So I repaired it, installed Windows Server and installed the tape backup software (Yosemite TapeWare v7.0 with an Exabyte VXA-2 packet loader tape drive and 80 GB tapes). However unlike previous backup programs I've used, you can't just insert a tape and begin restoring. The program requires you to 'Import Media' which basically imports the tape's catalogue into the system I guess. Well the Media Import is working but it has been going for about 18 hours now. I don't want to stop it and probably waste all those hours because the files are moving so I can tell it is working. Does anyone have any experience in this? According to the help file, it could take "up to 2 hours or more." According to some websites, it could take "many hours". We have about 20 GB of data in probably 30,000 files and right now it seems each file takes about 11-13 seconds before it goes to the next file. Crude math would put the total time at a few days minimum! Anybody have any ideas, comments, stories, etc? Thanks.

Do you still have a maintenance contract? Call their technical support (or submit a ticket) to get an estimate if its not done by this morning.

well apparently even though it appeared to take each file 12 seconds or whatever, it was really flying through them and only SHOWING one file per 10-12 seconds...man i was about to fucking freak but the restore is almost done
