anybody heard anything bad?5.7 L Hemi v8qaud cab..yada yadaand if someone were to put dual exhaust, what would be the best route to go?thanks

solid truck. they've pretty much worked out any and all of the problems that came with the most recent generation change. go to bob's and have the exhaust made. they do good work at a reasonable price. you're probably better off ordering what mufflers you want (cheaper elsewhere) and taking them there.you could do a high flow cat. converter also, but i wouldn't mess with it unless you have alot of other engine mods planned. stock converters flow pretty well these days.-BigBlueRam[Edited on January 7, 2007 at 1:38 AM. of course there's leather seats. don't remember which package you might need, but I bet http://www.dodge.com/ram_1500/index.html has the answer.[Edited on January 11, 2007 at 1:59 PM. Reason : .]

I've got a 05 quad cab hemi 4x4. Had it since brand new, 53k miles and I've had no trouble. I didn't want leather b/c my old 01 z71 lt ripped up really easy. besides, it's a truck. i also got the manual transfer case instead of the fulltime awd crap.

one bad thing about getting a hemi is all the idiots asking "Does that have a hemi?" question.

i got a twinkle in my eye over a 02 std cab shortbed with 20in wheels and painted bumpers... bright red... tint...

i also must admit. had an itch for a truck for some time now.

I've got a Hemi in my Grand Cherokee, and folks don't nag me about it.Then again, I'd guess 99% of the general population wouldn't know Hemi engines come in anything other than trucks Mine's an '05, I've loved it...can't not recommend that truck.

^^^ha yea...i wanted a diesel but couldn't justify paying that much when i don't tow anything heavier than a 21ft ski boat. a solid front axle would've been nice.
1/12/2007 12:30:28 PM
^^99% of people also don't realize that the new "hemi" isn't even really a hemi by technical terms.

even if you find one with 17's for a good price, go for it. many of the 4wd guys will jump at the chance to trade their 20's for 17's.
1/12/2007 8:56:05 PM
you could technically call the duramax a hemi.

^^i've got the 20s and my bfg a/t's were NOT cheap
1/14/2007 6:53:55 PM
if i get one i dont plan on keeping it long enough to put tires on it.
1/14/2007 6:58:43 PM
that's a good plan

im just going to wait and get the 2009..ha

anyone driven a hemi with the 6 speed manual? or even the previous 5 speed for that matter.i've got new work truck thoughts... i love my diesel, but it hasn't been quite as "worth it" as i thought it would be.
3/11/2007 11:37:54 PM
I drove a Hemi with an automatic last week. I wasn't that impressed. I suppose they are okay. The cab has a lot of fucking room. But I want my Cummins. With six gears or more behind it.

i used to work with a guy, had a 03 ram, he claimed it had the "other v8" not the hemi and it had single exaust and a goerlich xlerator muffler and that shit sounded awesome. in fact it was so loud he ended up putting a glasspack after the muffler to quiet it out a little.
3/11/2007 11:54:56 PM
yeah, i've driven an auto and wasn't extremely impressed. definitely not bad for a v8 in a heavy truck, but it didn't seem to live up to the advertised numbers. my brother runs a 4.7/auto 1500 quad cab as one of his company trucks and imo it isn't terribly weaker. i've read the manual wakes it up alot, but i dunno.i love my diesel for the power, gas mileage, and down right silly things it can make such a big truck do with the mods it has. i'm finding it hard to justify otherwise for a number of reasons though. one big reason, as i've shared with you two, is my purchase in the works which will eliminate my need for a long distance tow rig. another is $$. i can have a much newer truck for roughly the same payment with a warranty.if i'm going to go another direction, now is the time. it's at that point where resale will be dropping alot soon.[Edited on March 12, 2007 at 12:05 AM.
