^ I haven't been yet but I'll be going down in April hopefully Keep us posted how your trip goes!

All of friends that go to school there rave about the: restaurants, selection of bars you can walk between, and the shopping

king street...walk all the way up and down it and make your way to the battery and all the nice houses. A nice city to wander the streets in on a pretty day.

In you day you can visit the:
Battery (tour at least one house)
The market
King Street
Other random drivings

Next day:
Fort Sumter Or ride out to Sullivan's Island to see Fort Moultrie
Find a nearby plantation home (Magnolia is great)

I've been a couple of times, and honestly my favorite thing to do was to wander around and see what there was to see.

Although there is a fairly cool set of museums/aquariums down by the river, if memory serves.

Bars to go to: [Downtown] Raval, Vendue Rooftop, Blind Tiger...[Sullivans Island] Poe's

Restaurants: Fig, Basil, La Forchette

Since you only have two days. Could make a ten page report if you had a week.

When was the last time you were in Charleston?? Upper King has been revitalized. Some of the best restaurants and bars are past Calhoun now.

FYI if you're trying to go chill at the beach at all make sure you go to folly beach b/c that is the only one you can take alcohol on.

During the night time just walk around and you will find shit. Restaurants everywhere and the bars are pretty good there.

I've never had any problems drinking on Sullivans. Waved to the beach patrol plenty of times with a case and cooler of beer next to me.

Wrong. They're very informative and a great way to start the day, or a romantic way to end the day if you get one that just carries two people.

Definitely go eat at Jestine's Kitchen on Meeting Street. It's wonderful low country cuisine at reasonable prices.

Middleton Place on Ashley River Road is great for a historical plantation museum.

^^I agree. If you've never been to Charleston, the carriage tours are great.

Where are you staying? They have some great B&B's and some nice upscale hotels in the downtown area, but they are $$$$$. You can also stay just outside Charleston and save a bunch of money. The new bridge makes this a very convenient option if you're on a budget, as it takes less than 5 minutes to get from the bridge to where all the action is.

thanks folks! we put all on our do-lists (try to make it as much as possible) ^^ we'll go sullivan island on the next day, and stop by myrtle beach on the way back. i've been there once with school trip (city market+ aquarium + camp ground). charleston is very nice town

We plan on staying at either notsohostel or outside charleston. Hostel looks nice&cozy (from website). is that good area? (it's on spring st.)

Thanx again guyz

I would be more interested in getting rid of all the hobos living off king street than tourists. Then again im not dumb enough to live in a facade for poverty.

** I did watch a guy get hit while riding a bike by a drunk driver. He got up and ripped the front bumber off the car (honda civic) **

We stayed in a hotel in Mt Pleasant and payed about half the price a hotel of the same chain in the downtown area was charging for the same night. It was great for us because we spent time both in downtown Charleston and on the beach at Sullivan's Island. Mt. Pleasant is about halfway between the two.
