I have a noisy convertible, and every bluetooth headset I have had made it impossible to use in the car. Way too noisy. There is a new bluetooth headset that has came out a little before Christmas called the 'Jawbone'. It uses several methods to eliminate all background noise from your calls. You can find them in some very select Cingular stores, but at the moment, no one I could find sells them. Of course, they were on ebay. I had to shell out $150, but I received mine yesterday. For the first test, I sat at my computer with the music cranked very high. I called a friend, and he could hear me clearly, with only an ocassional thud in the background. I could barely hear myself when talking. I then tried last night in the car in the torrential rain on the highway. Had a 10 minute conversation with an individual that didnt know I was in the car (sounded clear).Check it out at http://www.jawbone.com. They have some real conversations recorded over the thing with the noise cancellation on and off. All bluetooth headsets look stupid, and this one isnt any exception, but its nice to be able to carry on a call in some noisy conditions.

thats pretty sweet....i wouldn't mind one of those...I currently have a Jarba but i stopped using it in the car cause as you said...too much noise.

We've got those where I work (Cingular-Crossroads) for $119.99-I haven't had a chance to play with one yet, but they're selling as fast as we get them in.

$150wtf
1/7/2007 2:01:20 AM
$150 was after overnight shipping. They are hard to find. The 2 cingular stores I called in the area didnt know what they were...
1/7/2007 9:09:21 AM
yeah i would get one but the price has to come down some
1/7/2007 10:44:48 AM
i picked up the blueant x2 a couple of months ago because my plantronics picked up all kinds of road noise in my car, even with the windows up and the sunroof closed...the x2 picks up NO background noise...i'd be interested in seeing how it fared in a convertibleat $34, i couldn't beat it

it's awesome. i remember wanted one a year or so ago when they only had the wired headset, but was big and bulky. got mine for 90ish with the cingular business discount and worth every penny. this is my 4th bluetooth headset and by far the best. and i like how it comes with several ear buds and ear loops so that it's actually a good snug fit since it has to make a good contact with your cheek to work. only complaint is that it's kinda heavy, but i'm getting used to it.
1/7/2007 5:05:03 PM
yeah, i have a blueant x3 micro and i love it... at $50 it's a heckuva lot cheaper and probably just as goodhttp://www.blueant.com.au/X3_micro_Bluetooth_Headset.htmhttp://www.amazon.com/BlueAnt-Micro-Bluetooth-Headset-Chargers/dp/B000FL2DMC[Edited on January 7, 2007 at 5:28 PM. Reason : link]

Pretty sure they only let black people buy these
1/7/2007 5:43:37 PM
I have the blueant ^^ too, and I can't vouch for what he's saying. I was sorely dissapointed. I get horrible feedback and echo on both my phones and my computer, and whatever background noice shielding it does have (if any) sucks. now I have 2 of these POSs and and not happy with either of them.[Edited on January 7, 2007 at 5:45 PM. plantronics 510 herenot perfectly happy with how well it picks up my voice but it's actually really comfortable - i forget i have it on usually which is not cool walking into public places
1/7/2007 7:26:39 PM
can you use it to grate cheese as well?
1/7/2007 7:27:59 PM
i would use it to clip money to my head and start a trend that will surely make it into all of the new hip hop videos
1/7/2007 7:33:25 PM
it does look tighthttp://www.engadget.com/2006/12/17/aliphs-bluetooth-jawbone-headset-sports-military-grade-noise-ca/random interview of the founder:http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/22/jawbone-founder-hosain-rahman-interviewed-the-market-was-crap/

I hope you use that thing everyday.
1/9/2007 10:46:41 AM
looks like we have a competitor2 microphones
1/9/2007 11:45:31 AM
I'd like to hear samples. I have seen a lot of other headsets out there that hype noise reduction, but the jawbone pretty much completely eliminates it. Ive been using it everyday in the car with absolutely no issues. I knew the prices were going to come down everyday with the jawbone, but I didnt really care... I wanted it last week and didnt care about paying the premium. I understand others will continue to wait.
1/9/2007 4:36:44 PM
ok i've decided to get one of these my shit isn't cutting it anymorewhere can i get it?
1/24/2007 3:34:02 AM
thinking about getting one too, just for car use of course, i could'nt be one of "those guys" walking around w/ them in. Cingular at crossroads I think you can find them?
1/24/2007 7:58:48 AM
<3 dmidkiff(no homo)works like a charmalthough it's a challenge to get on my dumbo ears but i guess it has to be touching your jawbone, hence the name, so it's all good. the quality of the audio is all that matters - i can deal with the extra 4 seconds to put the thing on.[Edited on January 26, 2007 at 7:11 PM. I am interested in possibly getting a Jawbone, are there any good reviews online of bluetooth headsets and how the various ones rank in quality that you guys have found? Quick google search didn't pull up very much useful information.
2/13/2007 7:21:45 PM
Cingular sells them for 120 at their company owned retail locations[Edited on February 13, 2007 at 7:25 PM. Reason : don't go to the Cary store or you will never get helped, trust me][Edited on February 13, 2007 at 7:26 PM. Reason : this is by far the best bt headset on the market]
2/13/2007 7:24:58 PM
headsets that operate this way have been out for least 18 months... your salesman probably just got you all worked up over a new model of the same thing.
2/13/2007 8:30:27 PM
what the hell, man...their website has very little information on it...at $120, the damn thing had better make me breakfast in the morning
2/13/2007 8:45:46 PM
i'm returning mine unfortunatelytoo many complaints about not being loud enough for people got me to switch back to my plantronics 510
2/13/2007 10:05:45 PM
2/13/2007 10:09:13 PM
anyone know where to find these things around Raleigh/Cary now? No answer back from dmidkiff about the Cingular store at crossroadsI'm considering just ordering one from the jawbone website
4/11/2007 6:07:12 PM
my real estate agent has one and says it's great. he says he's stood directly in front of running desiel trucks and the person he was talking to couldn't tell.
4/11/2007 6:59:34 PM
i have one and it works wonderfully, I have operated and been around my equipment with the headset and its worked, but some people say (especially when around noisy stuff)
4/11/2007 8:20:35 PM
^ but some people say..... what?
4/11/2007 9:13:33 PM
my roommate chris6218 has one, it's pretty sweet, just buy one off ebay, you might save like $10
4/11/2007 11:36:47 PM
i'd want to get one for when I'm driving with the top down, but the thing isn't compatible with my phone, damn.
4/12/2007 4:41:55 AM
They are hard to come by right now. Normally they come about 20-30 at a time twice a month. I will let everyone know when some come in.
4/12/2007 7:21:21 AM
^^ isn't compatible with your phone? I thought if you had bluetooth it just worked. I didn't think there were any compatibility issues.Btw, the buttons on this thing are really annoying and feel awkward
4/12/2007 1:26:02 PM
^ yeah, what he said. i'm pretty sure Bluetooth is Bluetooth
4/12/2007 1:33:07 PM
so the two i should be looking for are the jawbone and the gennum?damnt he jawbone is well over $100 on ebay! [Edited on April 12, 2007 at 2:13 PM. Reason : ]

Wearing a blue tooth headset is one thing I will NEVER EVER do in my life. I don't care what the situation is, I refuse to look like a complete fucktard. Its a phone, use it like its supposed to be used.
4/12/2007 8:37:19 PM
^I get between 2-10 calls an hour while trying to run (a) landscape crew(s)... i dislike the headset as much as anyone but sure beats taking it out of my pocket and losing a hand... this way i can keep pointing
4/12/2007 9:33:13 PM
Do you only have one hand?
