if im looking to buy a 360, but dont really intend to use it more than for Tiger Woods, a couple first person shooters and some other various sports games,im better off just buying the standard core system, right?
1/6/2007 5:07:07 PM
You're never better off buying the core unless you are pirating games, have no use for the live marketplace or arcade, like having wired controllers, and don't have an hdtv.
1/6/2007 5:20:20 PM
im not like the rest of you crazy kidsi just want to play tiger woods (and a couple other games) with wireless controllersi dont care about that other ish
1/6/2007 5:21:32 PM
well youd have to buy another wireless controller for 40and a memory card to save for about 40(granted you can say ebay, but youre still gonna spend about 60-75 to get both)might as well just get the harddrive, cables ($30-40 by itself), and wireless controller for the extra $100IT JUST DOSENT SAVE DOLLARSBUT IT MAKES SENSE!
1/6/2007 5:26:51 PM
the core is only if you are strapped for cash and can't do any betterbuying the core is like buying a computer and not hooking it to the internet - STUPID
1/6/2007 5:38:35 PM
sounds like i need to actually investigate for my own personal use, thanks!
1/6/2007 6:24:36 PM
wait for v2 if you do get onehttp://www.engadget.com/2007/01/05/the-second-xbox-360-revealed-codename-zephyr/
1/6/2007 6:29:19 PM
word.
1/6/2007 7:15:41 PM
I was just going to ge tthe core just to play basic games and not do much.. but you'll find that the stuff included with a premium is well worth it.. try to find a bundle with a free game too
1/6/2007 7:16:17 PM
ok, I could understand this thread if you said "I just want to play Tiger Woods" but no..you named half the games out there. You are no different then any other Xbox 360 user. A couple of FPS's, there are only a couple out that are worth playing. Various sports games...thats more than the average user...me for example, i play FIFA 07 and thats all for sports.
1/6/2007 7:17:49 PM
I bought a Core.I only about halfway regret it. Not being able to save anything at the moment is kind of gay though.
1/6/2007 7:28:14 PM
they dont have memory cards or whatever?^
1/6/2007 7:40:46 PM
i just realized. This is about the old Xbox 306...not the new 360

1/6/2007 10:25:12 PM
yea I wonder if there would be any kind of trade up program. Thats fucked up if they dont.
1/7/2007 7:27:32 AM
Here is the other kicker:If you buy a core system and later buy a MS hard drive, Microsoft does not support or provide warranty on that hard drive! They only provide warranty and support on the hard drive if you got it with your xbox. Its wack! But the good news is, xbox extended their warranty by one year on all consoles.

that zypher 360 is some funny shitglad i waited on the xbox
1/7/2007 3:13:20 PM
so i need a hard drive in my xbox to save any games, characters etc?wtf mate
1/7/2007 4:35:34 PM
1/7/2007 4:53:38 PM
^^No, but if you don't have one you will have to buy a memory card.An extra expense.
1/9/2007 4:25:00 AM
i just now noticed this thread was titled the xbox 306
1/9/2007 6:50:47 AM
well i got the full packageHA-HApackage
1/21/2007 2:21:46 PM
if the "zephyr" doesnt include the 120gb hdd it doesnt make that much of a difference for a lot of people. just added an hdmi which IS extremely nice, but i'll live. i dont need the 120gb hdd anyway and i doubt they'd include that for the same price as the current premium package (at least not until next year).
1/21/2007 2:29:17 PM
well my new tv takes 1080p over component so i'm not too upset
1/21/2007 2:43:20 PM
it's plugged in to my component feed right now, and to be honest, i am not one of those people who would really be able to discern a difference.
1/21/2007 2:46:20 PM
id wager a lot of ppl probably cant tell much of a difference between 1080i,720p, and 1080p. i dont have great eyesight so im probably one of them. that said my current tv doesnt even take hdmi input, but ill be upgrading soon.
1/21/2007 3:16:20 PM
i <3 my 306
1/24/2007 4:29:46 PM
is this like the back of a van purchased 360?
1/24/2007 6:42:52 PM
yepxbox is written in crayon
1/24/2007 9:24:13 PM
FWIW Microsoft denied they would be making a xbox with the HDMI port. They said those pictures were of a development unit. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be surprised to see them start shipping them with HDMI ports tomorrow, but their official stance is that they're not gonna.
1/25/2007 12:18:43 AM
Wasn't the whole v2 rumor largely based on that one picture. If it turns out that the picture is of a development xbox then that rumor probably isn't true. I guess it doesn't matter because if a dev version of xbox 360 does have the HDMI port I would expect them to include it in some future xbox release. If the rumors are true -
1/25/2007 7:49:50 AM
That HDMI rumor was cool back in July when engadget first reported it. My guess is they will milk the system now and if they decide to release an HDMI port, it'll be for christmas at the same or higher price.

question:the last game system i bought was a ps2 like 3 years ago, about a year or longer after it had been out so the market was saturated with games...my question isfor games like GTA IV and Halo 3, with the pre-ordering for later this year...if i just wait around for it to come out, is it really going to be ridiculously hard to find like a Wii? or is it just mostly to hype up sales?i cant remember ever pre-ordering a game before and the only one i have right now is TW 07
1/26/2007 3:48:10 PM
might be hard to get for a week or two, but not much longer than that.[Edited on January 26, 2007 at 6:30 PM. Reason : thats at worst though, most of those games will have plenty supply]
