I built my box over break, now i just need to get it installed. I've got a gmc envoy, and im putting in:1 - 12" Resonant Engineering HC sub1- Memphis mojo amp 1- HC batteryI'm looking for suggestions on where is a good place to get this done in the raleigh area, its not gonna be a hard install and i would do it but im getting lazy now. Someone on here that is good with this stuff can do it for me if u want to make a few bucks. Since im not changing the HU i dont know whats back there to hook the rca's up to and the battery isolation would be the only other tricky part.

yea, its alot better than a cap. Lights wont dim, even when im pounding on it. This amp can suck some power.

Walmart sells a line converter for like 18 bucks. If your Envoy is the same as my 06 Sierra, you should have 2 speakers that the stock amp uses for low frequencies. Connect the converter to them.Can't help with an installer though.

You need a battery isolater. You can find them on ebay pretty cheap. They are used a lot in RVs.

make sure its the exact same battery if you are going to run in parrallel. and also, a second battery isnt what you need to solve the problem of overloading the system and dimming lights.

jon is correct about adding a seoncd battery to an extent. it will put more strain on the alternator when charging the 2 batteries but the second battery will help stablize voltage and get rid of those dangerous dips in voltage. the alt on the envoy shoudl be pretty stout but i would definatly upgrade the big 3 wires and get the largest batt that will fit to go under the hood that mojo is a BEAST.two other things though is replace that pos stock hu no point in spending all the $$ on nice eqiupment if the signal it's being sent is garbage get somehting with some rca outs on it. the other is if u can the build the box(and ti's halfwya decent) then installing the shit is cake. u've already put too much time and $$ into it to have somebody install it wrong and fuck up ur shit.[Edited on January 6, 2007 at 7:17 PM. be careful when working on this car... im pretty sure most of these have the airbags wired through the radio for some reason... so watch out where you tap for a Line out Converter.... and always disconnect the battery terminal while tapping wires

^yea well thats part of the reason i dont want to fool with it. I'm just goin to run the battery in parallel even though they dont match, it didnt matter before. and the reason im not goin to buy a HU is dont have any money, this sub and stuff was just sitting in my room so i figured id throw it in my car.Where can i get carpeting for it around here. I would like to get some of the thin automotive carpeting, similar to what the pre-fab boxes use but where can i get it around here.Thanks

well ben i have a converter with the RCA's i was gonna use on my car, if you can figure out the wiring on it, actually i may can find a good site that has the wiring that wont be a problem we can do that in no time...the only problem you run into is your battery which shouldnt dim with just am amp on it, my truck never had that problem and my MR2 doesnt now and its running a 400 watt amp off its little lawnmower battery.anyways, i got the converter as for the carpet just use that spray on bed liner, its cheap and gets the job done with the same look almost i think...thats what my 15 box at home has around it

^^ok, well since i dont know anything about it... i guess since the sub is rated for 1200w RMS and 1800watt peak i wont have the amp turned up all the way. I had this stuff laying around from an old system and its all i have, but want some bump in my new ride but dont have any money to spend $$$ on it especially a double din HU because if i buy one its gonna be a nice one. The extra battery is def needed, and i would run 0 gauge wire but the biggest the amp can take is 4. I'll intall a 80 amp fuse on the power line back to the truck for this one, so it wont beable to draw more than 80 amps. Thats what i before, and it worked great just minus 1 sub this time...but your right I guess i dont know anything since i learned it all from a db drag champion/former memphis audio east coast rep who also designed and intalled my previous systems.could u please educate me?[Edited on January 8, 2007 at 8:17 PM. oh that explains ALOT. all this time i thought u at least had some clue what you were doin. running the single hc will likely give a 4 ohm load instead of the 2 ohm load u were likely running when u had 2, so you be sending the single sub close to 1200w rms(mojo is underrated ) if you upgrade your battery and wiring under the hoodu should be fine and it shouldn't draw enough for you to even need a second battery. u should use 0ga back to the amp and use a reducer or distro block to run 4awg into the amp. usually an amp is designed to take its proper gauge wire... therefore your amp may say 2400 watts on it somewhere, but in reality the RMS on it is probably around 800 watts. Which would maybe peak out at 80amps if you really pushed it... Should stay around 60 amps for a constant pull at regular volumes...To use the is comparison. Say your amp is a Fire Truck and your Wire is the hose that will be on the fire truck. You are saying that your amp is the Fire Truck that goes to the big fires but only takes a water hose. Everyone else is saying hey you need a fire hose not a water hose, but now you have a deliema because your Fire Truck can't carry a fire hose, it can only carry a water hose...

So you think you are an authority on the subject while claiming powering the amp the way it is intended to be powered is nigger rigging? You need to reevaluate your knowledge.Furthermore, he is sticking in 80amp fuse in there (apparently had one before). So, that alone alleviates any real need for extra batteries, alt rewiring, and things of the nature. Keep in mind, he had this equipment sitting around. I'd much rather have the problem of having way too much amp and not using it all than not having enough amp.I'll also ask you again, who are you to judge what someone likes and dislikes? I'm not a bass head myself, but I can appreciate the folks that enjoy it. You should do the same.
