I get performance bonuses 3 times a year, one of which lands at the end of the year.At Christmas my company has a HUGE all-expenses-paid Christmas party in downtown Chicago. They have raffle tickets where the least most people win is like $50, but some people get 42" plasmas or new tricked-out laptops. Oh, and we get gift cards for the grocery at Thanksgiving and Christmas to go buy a pie (some old, old company tradition apparently).

Christmas Bonuses are definitely moving to be the way of the past, and companies are moving towards more secular sounding terms like "annual incentive plan" or what my company has decided to change to, the plainly termed "bonus plan". we actually to get our's in december, but there is nothing christmassy about it.Just to give you guys some data on Annual Incentive (or Short-Term Incentive, STI) plans....*80% of the companies we survey have some sort of rewards or incentive plan (n = 1,028). *Typles of plans include the following (Percentages total to more then 100% since more then one response was provided by some participants)Business Incentives - 62%Individual Performance Rewards - 44%Team Awards - 21%Cash Profit Sharing Awards - 20%Gain Sharing/Productivity Awards - 11%*Lowest Annual Base Salary of Eligible Employees for STI Plans (n = 577)Average = $36,068Median = $25,500*And finally, I have a Salary Band Analysis for you guys. This is from Fortune 500 company data and its to give you an idea of where your bonus falls in the world. I am assuming everyone on here makes between $25k and $130k. Also, keep in mind what the sample population is. This is to provide a general picture, not a very specific industry/job position/company size picture. You guys arent paying me for this So - Find the Salary Range with the midpoint closest to your actual base salary. The Midpoint STI number is the 50th Percentile of Target Bonus Percent companies give to employees in that salary range (this is primary number companies go off of when setting target bonus). The STI Prevalence number is the prevalence of companies in the sample that provide STI plans to their employees in that salary band Salary Range --Min-------Midpoint-----Max--------Midpoint STI-----STI Prevalence$20,000----$25,000----$30,000---------2%--------------61%$24,000----$30,000----$36,000---------3%--------------69%$28,000----$35,000----$42,000---------4%--------------66%$32,000----$40,000----$48,000---------5%--------------69%$36,000----$45,000----$54,000---------5%--------------70%$40,000----$50,000----$60,000---------5%--------------70%$44,000----$55,000----$66,000---------5%--------------72%$48,000----$60,000----$72,000---------5%--------------74%$52,000----$65,000----$78,000---------5%--------------76%$56,000----$70,000----$84,000---------6%--------------78%$60,000----$75,000----$90,000---------8%--------------79%$64,000----$80,000----$96,000---------10%-------------82%$68,000----$85,000----$102,000--------10%-------------84%$72,000----$90,000----$108,000--------10%-------------86%$76,000----$95,000----$114,000--------10%-------------88%$80,000----$100,000---$120,000--------12%-------------90%$84,000----$105,000---$126,000--------14%-------------91%$88,000----$110,000---$132,000--------15%-------------92%$92,000----$115,000---$138,000--------15%-------------93%$96,000----$120,000---$144,000--------18%-------------94%$100,000---$125,000---$150,000--------20%-------------95%$104,000---$130,000---$156,000--------20%-------------96%[Edited on January 5, 2007 at 10:52 AM. Yeah, I got a 2.2% bonus. On the bright side it was almost 2.5 times as big as last year's bonus (which was soon after I started with the company). On the down side I was rapped by taxes on my bonus for some reason (36% ?!?!?!?)
1/5/2007 1:33:26 PM
No bonus. No Christmas party.I work for Scrooge McDuck.
1/5/2007 1:57:12 PM

1/5/2007 2:22:41 PM
Get mine in March. Probably around 7% as there weren't any hurricanes this year (Insurance Company). I'll divert the entire bonus to my 401k so I won't get jacked on the taxes as bad.
1/5/2007 9:03:21 PM
I worked 3 companies at Christmas, so I have three different stories on bonuses:1) Enterprise Rent-A-Car. No bonus. Used to have a pretty nice Christmas party with rooms rented at the Sheraton in G-boro. They dropped that this year. Get a present to choose from on the website. Cheap shit! This years were like a bathrobe, beach towel, emergency car kit, and a laptop case, or something. Everybody gets this, even me as a part-timer. Got the same as a full-time employee. Only get one day off work.2) Telpage. Only worked there like 6 months before Christmas, and left my fulltime position in Nov., but still pull part-time duty. Had a nice office party (got pretty drunk) and even though I was just PT, still got $50 in cash. Closed 25th, only.3) School System. Hadn't even been at work a month before Christmas. Had a Christmas lunch one day at central office that was catered, and got a $50 chamber gift certificate. Other folks got more than me, but I was surprised to get anything! Also got 25th and 26th off work.
1/5/2007 10:34:45 PM
No bonus. 7% raise in late November, 2% raise in late December.
1/5/2007 10:43:02 PM

anyone get a one year memebership to the jelly of the month club?
1/10/2007 1:54:28 AM
4% of what i made in 2006... so pretty close to an extra paycheck (bi-weekly paychecks).it's based on the profits of the whole company (decent) and the profit of my specific area of business (very good)
1/10/2007 4:17:54 PM
I got an extra paycheck (I get paid bi-weekly). But we also get profit-sharing in around June. Both bonuses are based off of the profits made by my company, though, they just like to refer to the December one as a "Christmas bonus" and last year's (2005) was enough to buy all new living room furniture.
1/10/2007 4:29:02 PM
First Christmas: No bonuses because the online survey they made available to the employees indicated that they would rather use the money to donate to Katrina, tsunami, and earthquake relief. They did give a $50 amex gift certificate though.Second Christmas: Nothing. I was actually thinking there would be - not having any disasters to relieve this past year and all. I didn't even remember seeing the standard 'relinquish control of your bonus so corporate can have a big tax write-off at your expense' form either. At first I thought that they used 2005's disasters as a convenient out for all future Christmas bonuses. An excuse to hide the transition from the something to nothing years. Then I asked around. They haven't given Christmas bonuses or consistent raises since they got bought out by a foreign company some years ago.Might start looking for a job that does one day soon.
1/12/2007 11:33:30 AM
I'm still working part time before I got to grad school so no bonus for me but friend works for financial company in new york and got over a 200% bonus.
1/12/2007 4:19:07 PM
^ not far fetchedbonuses on the street this year are bananas
1/12/2007 4:26:34 PM
$300, but i just started here. Also, it was taxed. In the past I usually just got cash in an envelope.
1/12/2007 5:05:50 PM
Not till march but it's looking like 12% of my pay in 2006. Interested to see how it gets taxed since I'm filing as a 6 right now.[Edited on January 12, 2007 at 10:56 PM. Reason : ^^^ I've heard of that, lower salaries but HUGE incentives]
