Chapel Hill road, need info please on the state vehicle surplus place. I searched a few keywords on t-dub and didn't find anything. I will Google, but I want to know if anybody here (more than likely) has experience. Thanks. Looking for a cheap car, not a necessity, just seeing options.

it amazes me how nice some of the drug stuff is...and it goes for NOTHING. I wish I had more money so I could buy and resale them.

Think blue book value, cut it in half. But remember you get what you pay for and you aren't allowed to drive the cars around. Only start them.

in my experience, most of the vehicles over there (that are even worth paying money for) go for well over blue book.[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 12:45 PM. Reason : .]

i concur. the take KBB and cut it in half comment was totally off base

i went over there today, most of the drug cars have fucked up interiors thoughi did look at everything inside though - there is some decent furniture there was a former Raleigh PD Crown Vic that had (no kidding) Duncan Donut napkins on the floor board still!!

The "cheap" cars sell for way more than they are worth in my opinion. Most of them look like junk and you know they can't have been maintained for shit. The vehicles in the $6,000+ range can be good deals sometimes as there is very little competition for those cars. The name brand electronics and tools all sell for way too much IMO as well. I did come in only a few hundred short on a boat there one time (the Correct Craft Mustang a couple of years ago.)cheerwhiner...I think you'd be better off just buying a cheap car on Craigslist.[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 1:31 PM. the drug cars and electronics go for way more than what they are worth. the state surplus vehicles are where its at...wait for the sbi to get rid of some cars and you might get a good deal on a ford explorer or expedidtion or pontiac grand prix

i used to go there weekly and bid on drug stuff all the time. the stuff sells for higher than ebay prices, which are already high enough in my opinion...
1/4/2007 4:59:35 PM
I often look through the awarded bids to see how much stuff went for and after seeing all the stuff that ends up not getting paid for I think people just put in high bids for the hell of it and don't think they will actuall win or maybe they just bid high so then can say they won but then don't want to pay for it. They need to charge people more for doing that.Although they had 3 sunfish sailboats that ended on the second and none of em looked too bad. One had a broken cowling and sold for only $29.99[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 5:47 PM. Reason : ]

The last time I went there some guy came into the drug seizure room saying he wanted to see an item he'd won. When they told him he had to pay first he said something to the effect of "naw man, I need to see it to know if it's worth what I bid on it." Fucking idiot.I did get a good deal on my home stereo speakers. They are DCM's which cost about $400 for the pair when new. Had they been Sony, Kenwood, etc. there is no way I would have bid on them; but some of the stuff from lesser known brands doesn't get bid up so bad.If it says "DeWalt" there's no point in filling out the form. Some dumbass will pay more than it would cost at Home Depot for it.[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 5:54 PM. Reason : s]

from the looks of the items listedwe have some shitty fucking drug kingpins in this state
1/4/2007 6:03:40 PM
No, it's just that the ones that get their shit seized are the motherfuckers living in a trailer park who sell drugs because they are lazy and don't want to work. The attributes that led them to become a drug dealer are the same attributes that led to them having such shitty run down vehicles.[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 6:33 PM. Reason : s]

[motorcyclewise] those vehicles are way overpriced
1/5/2007 5:54:52 AM
they have a pretty nice Matco toolbox for bid until the 18th

back in the day you could get stuff cheap. good running/decent condition state cars went for less than 1k regularly. a friend of mine in high school got 2 corsicas for $200.
