I don't need a moving company. I just have about 10 boxes of things that i need or shall i say i want with me in cali.
I decided not to buy a car here and drive it to cali, instead i will be purchasing one over there so I need a better way to get my things across.

Anyone know which would be better, fed ex, UPS, maybe freight( which I have no exp with)?
Or maybe the postal service. it would be helpful if you have shipped alot before.

I guess you are flying? You will, of course, check and carry-on the maximum

Other than that, 10 boxes sounds like a lot... If they are a good size, they are going to charge you $40 a pop or $400. Perhaps you should check FedEx Freight? If you squeeze it all on on pallet they'll have it there for the low price of $286 in 4 days.

But I suspect an actual moving company could have it there for less (but it would take weeks to get there).

a moving company across the nation would be thousands. $400 for ups shipping is cheap considering your other options of paying to take it on the plane (and the hassle of getting it to and from the airport), renting a moving van, or paying a moving company to move it for you.

You could also consider renting a car one way, though i don't know if that and gas/lodging will be any cheaper than ups/fedex shipping and plane tickets.

^ What? Some companies charge you by the lot, in this case it would be one lot, and move it just like FedEx. You drop it off at their regional hub, it gets put on a truck with a whole bunch of other people's stuff, is shipped to their national hub, is put on another truck with other people's stuff, and shipped to your destination.

That said, it takes forever. FedEx Freight will fly it there in 4 days for $286 and you can even track it! The thing is, FedEx Freight doesn't care about weight until it is over 200lbs. So, carrying stuff on the plane may save you nothing.
