The Big East is down more so than last year in bball.UConn, Cincy, WVU, Nova, and Louisville are all down in comparison to usual for those schools.
1/3/2007 9:45:40 AM
yeah maybe the big east can get more teams than us in the tourney since they have 1385 teams

The Big East sucks.

The Big East is awsome if you are into fat cheerleaders and ugly chicks on campus.

ACC is definitely better than the Big East this year in basketball. It's not even really close. I'm a huge Big East fan and I can admit that.. The Big East was clearly a better football conference than the ACC this year as well. No sense disputing that. Things will change though both ways from year to year though.

Big Least??Little East??The Big East is like what ECU is to the state of North Carolina. They are there, they make some noise, they win occasionally, but at the end of the day, no one really cares about them.

^ see now that kind of ignorance is as stupid as the original post (which was just Nate trolling). The Big East is, without a doubt, the only conference in the country on or near the same level as the ACC in basketball year in and year out. To say otherwise is just plain ignorant.----The ACC seriously fucked up taking BC by the way. They could have had a share of the biggest market in the country by taking Syracuse or UConn who have huge followings in NYC). I'll never understand, forever, why they would choose BC over Syracuse[Edited on January 3, 2007 at 1:49 PM. Reason : x]

^I think Syracuse rejected our offer.-Does anyone know if the ACC is still BCS eligible? I remember reading somewhere that the conference's top team rank has to average 8.5 over 6 years or something...

I see your poitn NYM, but Madison Square Garden is like Duke's 2nd home, I dont think the ACC cared about a NYC market

^^ of course they are. That rule was abandoned when it became clear after WVU beat Georgia last year that the BE wasn't going to die as a football conference. Regardless it would only have been 'up for review.' There is no chance it would have been gone. I believe it was actually 12 over 4 years though as originally stated.^ well, Duke does draw well at MSG for certain but they don't have a large fanbase up there (it's more that every Duke fan goes to those games). 75% of the CT population is in the NYC tv market and Syracuse is the most popular school in NYC, even moreso than St. Johns. I just think Syracuse made the most sense from an athletic, academic, and revenue standpoint.-------Actually, I read something a month ago that wasn't much publicized but ESPN signed a new television deal with the Big East. Every single football and basketball league game will now be on national TV via either ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU for next 7 years. It is the first deal of this kind in the history of college sports. That will really boost recruiting when it starts to get publicizied. I wish the ACC would do something like that since nearly EVERY Pack ACC game is on local TV and not on out here in Cali..[Edited on January 3, 2007 at 2:56 PM. Reason : x]

I'm not socrates but it depends on your point of view of down is if duke is down or not. If you think normal for duke is being the best or one of the top few elite teams then yes they are down. Sure they're rebuilding but in my opinion they are not down as long as they are top 10.If you look at resumes they've been just as good as pretty much anybody except ucla.Same with the acc. Acc isn't a dominant conference but its not down. UNC Duke and Clemson are holding it up and everybody is so young. Florida state is good then you have teams like gt and maryland will show up to be good and teams like uva bc ncsu and vt may have struggled a bit but they are all decent at worst.
