So I'm trying to solve a problem with signal strength of a wireless router(so far my suspecion).

Router has to be on the 3rd floor because that's where all the ethernet ports of the house converges.

I think the signal strength to the first floor is a bit weak cause sometimes you cannot find the access point from first floor. First floor is only place in the house that is having trouble, the connection fades in and out.

Looking to solve the problem by adding another router on 2nd floor as a repeater (where the ethernet out is from the wall). But I want to confirm my suspecions that signal strength is the problem so I don't spend money on a solution that won't matter.

So is there an app out there (to run on my laptop) that can show me the signal strength over an interval of time?
