If our student section was as good as say the Cameron Crazies, then I would agree for a name. But when I went to the ECU game and there were ECU fans in our lower level student sections, I don't think we need a name. You rarely, if ever, see opposing fans in the Cameron Crazies. Our university needs to quit giving guest tickets to the lower level student sections, and our students need to quit giving guest tickets to opposing team fans for lower level sections. Two reasons for this...students deserve the best seats; we look unsupportive for tv covered games with half our student section filled with opposing team fans (bc typically the lower level seats are shown the most)/rant
1/2/2007 1:24:30 PM
^agreed
1/2/2007 1:32:00 PM
Anyone in student government? Can this ^^ be done?
1/2/2007 2:05:12 PM
that's a retarded idea. mostly because it would mean that our student section would be that much less full. PLUS there are plenty of ncsu students who are fans of other teams (there are plenty of them in this forum) so it wouldn't really solve the problem. and i was at the ecu game and most of the people there were ncsu fans. sure there were more out-of-towners than usual. but that's to be expected in a christmas break game.
1/2/2007 2:09:02 PM
I know there is nothing that can be done with NCSU students that are fans of other teams. I might have a personal beef with that, but I will respect their opinion. However, allowing only students to sit in the lower student sections won't decrease the amount of students that are there. It just means that the students that were sitting in the upper levels now have a lower level seat. I don't see any problems with this idea. It wouldn't completely stop the problem, but it would be a strong move in the right direction.
1/2/2007 2:33:24 PM
i'd still like them to start a tradition of the ringing of the goal horn for big wins or acc wins. (like they did one time we beat duke a few years ago? i think it was duke)beating cupcake u and ringing that would be like 2 times as loud as it may have gotten the whole game.but maybe thats just because i like the goal horn
1/2/2007 2:40:23 PM
so if i want to go to a game (as a student) with a friend, i have to go to an upper level seat? (and mind you that i'm paying for the extra tickets). sorry. it's not going to happen. it's really not a big problem. for big games, it's nearly all ncsu people in the student secitons. the only reason it wasn't that way for ecu was because there weren't that many ncsu people there to begin with.
1/2/2007 2:40:50 PM
its so easy a caveman could do it.all you have to do is do it like football. first 100? or however many it is students that get to the game with the piece of paper get an actual ticket for the floor...and so on.
1/2/2007 2:41:54 PM
I understand that there weren't that many people there to begin with, and I know that it's not always like this. But my main issue is this: why should a friend who isn't paying tuition get a better seat than someone who is paying tuition? With my idea, you and your friend can still go to the game, you just can't sit in the lower level sections. It's a price you pay by bringing a friend to the game. And I think the bball program looks better because of it.
1/2/2007 2:46:35 PM
^^i dont' mind that solutioni just get annoyed that because i'm shelling out EXTRA money to bring a friend (often an alumnus from out of town) you want to put me in the nosebleeds. it seems pretty insecure to me. that people would be SO afraid of a dissenting voice as to try to ban them. when really, if our team gets enough of a following it wouldn't be much of an issue to begin with.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 2:47 PM. 1/2/2007 2:46:46 PM
I like the idea of working it the same way as footballEveryone starts out with a GA ticket and the section you sit in is determined by when you come into the game.Mainly i'm just sick of seeing so many open courtside seats at every game and i'm stuck behind the damn goal because of a fucking lottery
1/2/2007 2:54:44 PM
I'll go along with the football idea. I just hate seeing so many guest tickets being given away, especially to lower level seats.(also, it's not that I am trying to ban the dissenting voice. I just want more of the majority in the lower level seats.)(there is only one problem with the football idea - I, along with a lot of others, work til 5. If it's first come, first serve, I will never get a good seat.)[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:00 PM. Reason : .]
1/2/2007 2:56:41 PM
The idea certainly has merit. It might even encourage the WPC to show up 10 minutes before the game.
1/2/2007 2:57:21 PM
^^i've been to lots of bball games and it's never more than two or three people in a given section cheering for a different team. i don't really see what the big deal is. as long as they're not being jackasses, it's cool with me. and i personally think that people showing up late is a bigger problem.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:05 PM. Reason : .]
1/2/2007 3:05:12 PM
^ You must be a fan of another team. That is the only aspect of my argument/idea that you have attacked. Which team do you pull for?
1/2/2007 3:06:51 PM
no, i'm someone who brings guests to games frequently, because i'm a grad student adn have friends who have graduated. i don't feel like that is reason enough to shove me in the rafters for every game.
1/2/2007 3:09:04 PM
I agree with Toyota, i hate seeing opposing teams fans with better seats that myself. I feel like i'm being cheated by my own school. Is it not possilbe to take affirmative action the same way Duke's Student Government took affirmative action against the Robertson Scholars.
1/2/2007 3:10:01 PM
adn i think the robertson scholar shit is even more ridiculous. because those students ARE duke students and they're banning them from the student section.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:11 PM. Reason : all because duke lost to unc that year, i'm sure.]
1/2/2007 3:11:05 PM
OK, well I'm guessing you didn't do your undergrad here, and it sounds as if you bring friends from other schools. Not to mention you just side stepped with question.
1/2/2007 3:12:05 PM
sounds like a UNC grad to me![Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:13 PM. Reason : if so, what a fag]
1/2/2007 3:12:36 PM
nope. i haven't. my gf graduated from here last year and friends of mine graduated a coulple years ago. i've been going to state for 6 1/2 years now.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:15 PM. Reason : it's funny because here at NCSU we hate 'dem faggots!!!!!]oh yeah and my father went to ncsu in the david thompson era. i've been an ncsu fan since i can remember watching basketball. so, in short, no it has nothing to do with me being a fan for other schools or bringing people who are fans of other schools. it has to do with me wanting to be able to bring my own friends and family and not have to sit in the rafters.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:18 PM. Reason : .]
1/2/2007 3:13:06 PM
Well I apologize for calling you that horrific name. I commend you on choosing to be a NCSU fan. However, I still would like to see tuition paying fans in the lower level sections instead of being ousted to the rafters because of guest tickets.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 3:21 PM. Reason : Horrific name meaning UNC grad.]
1/2/2007 3:20:46 PM
why don't you cry about it and join WPC if you want guaranteed floor tickets. either that or implement a first come first serve system like has been mentioned.
1/2/2007 3:23:31 PM
First come first serve seems to be the most fair way to handle it IMO
