i'm looking to get a micro SD card for my phone, but i cant find anywhere that will tell me how much information i can get on a 1gb card. is it about the same as a 1gb mp3 player? my 1gb mp3 player holds about 500 3min songs.

Which is heavier, a pound of gold or a pound of feathers?

what he's saying is 1gb=1gbi've been looking for a microSD card as well. they have price breaks on slickdeals.net and bensbargains.net from time to time but i havnt been able to catch one.personally i want a 2gb card... that should hold a good bit of music and leave room for camera phone pics

technically? feathers, gold is measured using the Troy system (12oz/lb) whereas feathers are measured using Avoirdupois weight (16oz/lb)but i get where you're coming from...thanksi'm looking on ebay right now, they are some really cheap 2gb cards, like 50-60 bucks, if you trust the people on ebay, which i do, so far...[Edited on December 31, 2006 at 12:20 AM. IMO, dont pay those prices right now... you will see it drop very very quickly in the future as it always has, and youll be able to get twice the space for the same price down the road...But then again .... I guess 60 bucks wont kill a dude.

i was thinking about waiting for a price drop as well. the 2gb i believe is the largest size commonly sold for microSD. i figured maybe i could buy a cheap 512mb and get by til i find a good 2gb deal
12/31/2006 8:34:35 AM
cc has one advertised 14 bucks for 1gb after rebates

Make sure your phone can actually address that much memory. Some of the phones have limits.Check out this site as well, I've had luck with them in the past.http://dealnews.com/memory/prices/mini-SD/56/2GB.html

^^I'd like to know where you do your shopping. $16 for a 2GB? I've never seen anything even remotely close to that.Anyways, here's a sandisk 2GB for $64 shipped with a free memory card reader. That's a pretty decent price. I just ordered 2.http://www.bensbargains.net/deal/16641/]

there was a link on the fatwallet forums to a $19 2gb microSD deal. however, you should be warned that many phones do not support cards greater than 1gb. make sure your phone supports > 1gb microSD cards before wasting your money.

Yeah, I picked up a 4GB regular SD right before christmas for $40. MicroSD is a LOT more expensive. Also keep in mind that it helps to pay attention to where, and what brand name of flash card you buy. About a year ago I found a pretty decent deal (at the time) for a 2GB MiniSD card from an overseas online retailer I had never heard of. They claimed it was sandisk, so I figured it couldn't hurt. When it arrived it said sandisk on it, but something about it didn't look quite right. It worked for about 2 days before I could no longer get anything to read or write to the flash. After further inspection (I ripped the damn thing open), it looks like it was nothing more than a cheap chinese knockoff with sandisk labeling. IMO, it's probably worth a few extra bucks to go with name brand stuff and buy from reputable dealers.]

No doubt, I had that problem too back when I was trying to find a 1 gb memory stick pro duo for my PSP a little more than a year ago, they were expensive as shit.
1/4/2007 2:14:02 PM
prices are always coming down on this type of stuffI just picked up a 4GB Mem Stick Pro Duo for $55, no rebatesWith the release of Samsung's new NAND flash technology (just announced a couple days ago), this stuff should get even cheaper QUICKLY.
1/4/2007 3:37:37 PM
it should drop but microSD cards are still expensive due to their size.. they are like smaller than your fingernail
1/4/2007 8:14:19 PM
FYI, SD, MiniSD, MicroSD are ALL DIFFERENT and TransFlash is the same as MicroSDJust don't buy a miniSD thinking it's the same as a microSD, it's not.1gb microSD card for $23 shippedhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820211042&ATT=20-211-042[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 10:07 PM.
