how is the ceiling material attached? for those of you who saw it when it was at dan's, you know how dilapidated it is...i helped a friend remove the ceiling from a mid-80's dodge truck, and it was just a piece of cardboard with fabric glued to it...anyone know if the ceiling on a 91 suburban is the same? i want to pull the whole thing down because that yellow foamy material has dried out and blows around all the timeon a related note, know anyone around here who could put a new ceiling in?

just rip that shit out

planning on it...but it's already bad enough, and we're planning on taking it on a trip on friday...i don't have time to fix it if i make it worse, so i was hoping for some advice from someone who might have done this before

just use a staple gun
12/26/2006 7:20:38 PM
you can buy aerosol spray glue for itbut the staple gun is the easiest way to fix itremember the vehicle is coming up on 16 years, is it really worth it

just rip the fabric off but be sure not to damage the backing board. you can remove it and carry it to an upholstry shop. they'll recover it for ~$100.

Believe me...that headliner is definitely worth replacing. The truck is in pretty good shape overall...especially with a rebuilt tranny and a reman engine!^What Brian said. If you keep the fiberboard backing, there are quite a few shops that can recover it.To take most headliners down, you usually have to pull the pillar trim and the plastic perimeter trim. Most of the time, it'll fall right down afterward. Then, just pull it out the back.

http://www.autointeriorsandtops.com/My dad took my previous jeep to these guys to have the ceiling reupholstered. They did a damn good job on it and it wasn't too expensive (it was around $50-100 less than what my dad thought it'd cost, but I'd call to check and see how much it actually does cost, I don't remember myself).Maybe somebody on here can back me up.

^that who i recommend for interior work. like i said previously, i don't think it would be too much more than $100 if you bring the headliner backing to them. they wanted $50 to do mine but that's from a standard cab pickup.

you could EASILY do it yourself, IF you can get a roll of fabric wide enough to cover the actual headliner. the one in my rover is shot and I will doing it myself if I can get the right width fabric.

^ If'n you find some pimp ass fabric, I'll kick in. All that power under the hood of the Super Saab has blown the liner to pieces.
12/27/2006 7:46:44 PM
if the fabric is still ok, take it all out, rip out the foam, and glue it back onto the backing
12/27/2006 7:51:11 PM
The foam on mine is pretty much good. But the fabric is dust in the wind, literally. Had to rip most of it out cause it was blowing in my eyes going down the highway.

looks like you need to make a trip to micheals then, you fag, and buy a couple yards of fabric, some yankee candles, and tampons

12/27/2006 11:41:47 PM
