A common complaint is that the refs give Duke special treatment at Cameron. Is it because the refs are intimidated by Coach K or the Cameron Crazies? Watch this and then tell me why McRoberts wasn't whistled for travelling: http://media.putfile.com/dook-no-travel

ONE BAD CALL?THAT'S ALL THE PROOF I NEED
12/20/2006 10:46:00 PM
Look at the past 20 years and the answer will be yes, especially last year don't remember what game but they got some hell of calls
12/20/2006 10:49:24 PM
wow the evidence is really stacking up
12/20/2006 10:52:45 PM
and the media is on Carolina's side, and Maryland is lucky etc...how can State compete against all that? It never their fault for losing...
12/20/2006 10:53:08 PM
lol mcroberts is funny. the refs don't intend to help duke but most big time players (thus programs) get the calls. mcroberts isnt that good yet but everybody acts like he is.[Edited on December 20, 2006 at 10:54 PM. Reason : lol 8 steps]
12/20/2006 10:54:02 PM
haha, what an awful awful no-call
12/20/2006 10:55:34 PM
Duke has had way to many close games to be #6(Kent St. Holy Cross) I think the ACC will show who they really are
12/20/2006 11:02:40 PM
Don't go too far out onto that limb now.
12/20/2006 11:06:00 PM
usually yes.I saw coach K dropping off a bag of money in the refs locker room once
12/20/2006 11:06:33 PM
wait, is this a serious question?
12/20/2006 11:07:19 PM
halfwit, your name says it all.
12/20/2006 11:08:08 PM
Well for Duke I think they will have a off year, Paulus is turnin the ball over like crazy
12/20/2006 11:11:22 PM
kent state and holy cross aren't bad teams. there is so much parity with the midmajors. mason proved that last year and its even crazier this year. wichita state is #8 in the country. and how do i know a travel wasn't called?
12/20/2006 11:15:06 PM
Do you not think that Duke will have some trouble comin to the RBC Center
12/20/2006 11:17:07 PM
No more than any other team. If state plays right we can beat anybody. Eliminate dumb turnovers and decent ft % we would have beaten bama without one of our best players and senior leader.
12/20/2006 11:21:48 PM
I agree 100%
12/20/2006 11:23:04 PM
no man, the acc refs hate us, they will still get their asses kissed
12/20/2006 11:23:31 PM
Dont sign up for a ticket then fans who believe need it
12/20/2006 11:24:48 PM
holy hellwas this thread even needed?of course they get calls at cameron
12/20/2006 11:27:38 PM
i didnt say I dont believe, fool, i just said I dont believe that
12/20/2006 11:28:58 PM
Well we can't blaim any1 for our losses this year except the crazy ass play of some of our players
12/20/2006 11:31:41 PM
Coach k is a jedi master and can wave his hand at the ref to get a call.
12/20/2006 11:37:41 PM
the only thing he did right was coach team USA
12/20/2006 11:43:57 PM
assistants do all the real coachingthe head coaches are just salesmen. very very loud salesmen.
12/21/2006 12:42:21 AM
[NEW] to the max extreme 10x
12/21/2006 2:01:50 AM
Do the refs favor Duke at Cameron??????Does your shit stink?Of Course
12/21/2006 2:03:41 AM
not even a bad call.....one bad "no call"
12/21/2006 2:14:15 AM
12/21/2006 7:45:32 AM
fuck Duke
12/21/2006 7:53:30 AM
does shit stink?
12/21/2006 10:36:23 AM
did I say Fuck Duke yet in here?
12/21/2006 10:37:38 AM
12/21/2006 11:45:00 AM
12/21/2006 11:49:33 AM
duke just happens to usually have players with the reputations. sheldon williams got away with alot of stuff. if florida were to come to duke right now they would get most of the calls. refs don't pay attention to the crowd or the name of the jersey but they know sheldon is the landlord and if they arent sure they have in their mind that "williams is so good at blocks it must be clean".Kansas and Arizona? are you kidding me? Duke has dominated the acc winning the championship x out of x-1 years and has been #1 at the end of the season 6? of the last 8 years i think. That means Duke has had the best season all those years. Also, the streak of sweet 16s is second to none. Don't compare it to wooden because its apples and oranges. Todays world does not favor the best team winning it all. The ncaa tournament is a free for all.And mcdonalds all americans dont mean everything. Alot of guys become mcdonalds all americans after they commit to duke. But yes, Coach k is a dominant recruiter and that is the key to being in the top 10 every year.nym410 envies duke with so much passion that he will try to find anything to insult the program. look at all of his posts.
12/21/2006 12:47:50 PM
haha how you do miss that call, HOW?!?!?! oh man i just laughed that was so bad
12/21/2006 12:52:23 PM
Fuck yes they get calls. they get calls EVERYWHERE, especially in fucking Cameron
12/21/2006 12:52:34 PM
^^^ again, I have no reason whatsoever to envy Duke. You guys simply can't beat my second team and you know it. Dislike them? Yes. No envy though. I criticize my own teams if they deserve it as well. Also, you must have missed the part where I said NATIONAL when talking about Duke's achievements. I'm well aware of their ACC dominance, which is impressive. On a national scope they aren't on a level much higher than Arizona, Kansas, or Kentucky though...
12/21/2006 12:56:14 PM
so arizona kansas and kentucky have 8 straight sweet sixteens and have finished 5(?) of the last 8 seasons as the #1 team in the country? I think not.
12/21/2006 1:01:23 PM
Who cares about consecutive Sweet 16s honestly? Is that what makes a succesful season? Their ACC tourney results are far more impressive than that. Also finishing #1 means exactly nothing unless it translates in to Final 4's and championships, which it hasn't.I don't feel like arguing this anymore because you have a ridiculous hard-on for all things Duke. I'm just being fair (notice I didn't even mention UConn since their national achievements pale in comparison to Duke aside from actual titles)...[Edited on December 21, 2006 at 1:06 PM. Reason : tourney results have little bias.. rankings have a lot of bias]
12/21/2006 1:06:19 PM
a national championship just means you got hot for 6 games, got a good draw of matchups, and got a lucky upset or 2 make your path easier. by your logic a team that goes undefeated and loses in the championship to a 10 loss team didn't have as good a season. The tourney is a wide open free for all between the too many teams and all you have to do is make it then its a brand new season first team to 6-0 wins.
12/21/2006 1:12:29 PM
Well then you can fly those AP #1 banners in Cameron with pride right next to the Sweet 16 ones.. I'm sure Florida and UNC are envious... btw I picked Duke by 8 tonight and put some $$$ on the line; they better win ATS..[Edited on December 21, 2006 at 1:15 PM. Reason : duke at -3; off to tahoe now!]
12/21/2006 1:14:45 PM
I wouldn't pick a team thats going to lose 7 conference games to win by 8.
12/21/2006 1:16:14 PM
Ahahahaha look at the Duke fan trying to downplay the significance of Championships "The Tourney doesn't mean anything! Its just like the preseason NIT, only at the end of the season! The winner just got hot for 6 games, thats all!"
12/21/2006 1:17:08 PM
Coach K and Jim tressel have proven that diplomacy/intimidation of the refs is a huge and necessary part of the game - another reason i'm glad Herbie the lovebug is gone.
12/21/2006 1:31:14 PM
12/21/2006 3:02:31 PM
I'd just like to point out that statistically the home team gets more calls than the away team no matter which pair of teams or venue. Someone did a study of this a year or two ago and discovered that while the number of favorable calls for Duke AT Duke is above the average across the NCAA, it wasn't close to the teams at the top of the list. For anyone who actually cares, atop of the list was our friends at UNC. UConn was up there as well.
12/21/2006 3:12:42 PM
but guys, he did travel
12/22/2006 3:40:01 AM
generally, refs favor Duke regardless of where they play
12/22/2006 11:52:47 AM
hahaha.. not sure about the whole getting calls thing, but he was definitely skating around and taking false steps in that clip... Kinda goofy looking footwork for a college bball player
