IBM laptops (and some others I'm sure) have that little mouse button thing in the middle of the keypad, it toggles like a joystickWhat are those things called? I need to find a replacement one (have a refurb laptop that's missing it)

^^yep, that's it. anyone know where to get replacements retail? or do i have to order from IBM/Lenovo directly?

i think you have to get them from lenovo. i recently got a new keyboard for my t42 through the warranty and it came with new trackpoint cover thingies.oh here you gohttp://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=38&Code=73P2698$9.99

^awesome, thanksfound out one more problem in the middle of trying to resolve this one... apparently there's a black plastic piece that slides over the trackpoint protrusion on the keyboard (then the nipple goes on that piece). looks like this:anyone know if these are available in an IBM parts kit or something I can find order off eBay? or do I need to go cannabalize an old ThinkPad somewhere?

Go to UNC-CH tech department and ask for one. Theyve been issuing Thinkpads for years and years now, and you can probably get one for free. or ask a UNCCH friend
