Has anyone ever has Dr. Viniotis for any ECE courses, especially ECE220?
I'm considering switching sections from Dr. Ozturk (H) to Dr. Viniotis.

220 is a bitch regardless. Why exactly are you switching?
Neither is a particularly good prof. Although Ozturk seemed more to give a damn

ozturk is pretty good, but she goes really fast

I was lost pretty early on and just maintained a blank stare for the rest of the semester

They are both excellent teachers, which one you choose depends on how you learn.

I loved 220 so much last semester that I'm going to take it next semester (took a semester off from ECE).
I had Dr. Ozturk for it and she was VERY fast with everything...loved to skip steps on the board so nothing made any sense.

Both are fine. Dr. Ozturk came in a few times to teach my ECE 301 segment, and when she did, my friends and I would just put down our pencils, sit back, and watch the mathematics unfold on the board. She goes at a faster pace than other professors, but it was great.

Do yourself a favor, take it with Ozturk. While you're at it, try finding somewhere else to learn about differential equations, laplace transforms, fourier series, and fourier transforms!

Seriously, this class is terrible. Somehow 220 manages to make these simple topics difficult.

That book we used was god-awful. Is it still the same one? Small, paperback, written by Viniotis? That thing was awful; the numbering system was about as random as throwing darts.

i liked vinoitis for 220 and thought it was pretty easy. he isn't the most exciting professor in class(however, i enjoyed his dry humor), but he knows his stuff and he is very helpful outside of class.

It's more like a manual than a book. It's insulting that you have to pay for it. If they are going to force students to use it it should at least be free, like the 200 text.

I took 220 with trussel last year and we had viniotis teaching the class for a month since trussel was gone. he rocked.... he knew his material and he was very helpful outside class. Hes the only prof. who helds extended office hours before any test usually till as late as 1 AM. I am taking 407 with him now and hes the MAN .

Good call about Viniotis's office hours. The night before a test, he would be in a study lounge from 9pm up to 1am, available for any and all questions. We'd be serious for maybe 2 hours, then just chat about stuff. Never heard of another professor do the same. Viniotis has a lot of good experiences in business and is great to talk with.

Viniotis is marginally better than Hauser

though that's REALLY not saying much

i seem to remember people either loving or hating ozturk

[Edited on December 20, 2006 at 4:26 PM. Reason : if you really want to learn diff. eqs. take the MA equivalent class, it won't help for ur degree tho]

Hauser was the worst person ever, I wanted to shoot myself every day in his class.
Dr. Ozturk really knew her stuff but she skipped 24 steps and suddenly there's the answer!!....with no idea how we went from A to B. I believe I might switch to Viniotis to see how he does.

I liked Viniotis so much for ECE220 I took the class twice!

Had Ozturk for 301.

I'd probably recommend Ozturk for 220. But, taking ECE220 more than once is (was) a badge of honor of mediocre gpa engineering students like myself.

definately take ozturk, she moves fast and skips some things, but if asked, then she will go over in detail exactly how to get the answer, that is if she has done it right herself.

Take Viniotis... He was one of my 3 favorite teachers at NCSU.

Barlage could definitely lead a course in "what NOT to do in Powerpoint"
