So we've been told that we need a new EGR (it was either EGR or ERG) valve thing for our 2001 Honda Accord. So I just wanted to gather some info on what that is/does, etc. and figured this was the quickest way, other than google tell me what you know! go![Edited on December 17, 2006 at 11:19 PM. 12/17/2006 11:17:25 PM
second on the NGR valve, pm baonest
12/17/2006 11:18:18 PM
the best thing to do on these is to replace it with an NGR valve. It's a newer design that prevents clogging. Call up the dealership tomorrow and see if they have any available for your car.[Edited on December 17, 2006 at 11:18 PM. Reason : ^,^^ beat me to it]

holler,NGR valve it is.
12/18/2006 2:33:08 AM
Yeah, EGR is the last thing you need to worry about on a Honda. If it were a Chevy (especially mid-80's) I'd be more worried about it, but not on a Honda. I'd definately start by going to Autozone and telling them you need an NGR valve.

i'm gonna call some dealerships today asking around for an NGR valve, i'll try to record what the parts guys say came up under NGR ??????[Edited on December 18, 2006 at 8:11 AM. Reason : blah]

try cleaning your MAF/MAP sensor. You may not need a new EGR. It is the thing in your air intake with a little wiring harness on it. Take it out and look inside. You will see a tiny little sensor inside (looks like two wires with a drop of glue on them). Clean this carefully with a dry q-tip.

I bet ten dolla this is a V6 Accord. Shit, I bet ten dolla, a case of Abita Turbo Dog, and a large pepperoni pizza.
12/18/2006 10:00:35 PM
high stakes!
12/19/2006 10:00:03 AM
honda's v6 engines have this problem.poor design.if it's still under warranty or if there is a secret warranty in effect they'll fix it for you.call a dealership and find out.if it's po401 egr low flow, there is a retrofit kit to prevent the problem again.

What does an EGR do? Exhaust Gas Recirculation. In short, it reduces emissions mostly.
12/20/2006 10:09:03 PM
Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve and it does exactly what its acronym says. It recirculates exhaust gas so that some of the unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust get a second chance at being burned instead of being released to the atmosphere.
12/22/2006 2:16:04 PM
the real question is what does NGR valve do?
12/22/2006 2:57:22 PM
it sits there mostly.
12/22/2006 3:05:04 PM
collects food stamps and welfare checks
12/22/2006 3:19:35 PM
drinks 40's and abuses women.
12/22/2006 3:30:52 PM
the correct answer isNOT A DAMN THANG
12/22/2006 3:32:54 PM
12/22/2006 3:37:00 PM
substitutes part of the air in the cylinder with inert gas
12/22/2006 3:38:23 PM
oh, and i missed the NGR valve, all wrong so far, it leaves illigitimate kids in the backseat with no child support
12/22/2006 6:14:31 PM
12/22/2006 7:30:41 PM
Yep, you are right. I already forgot what I learned in combustions class. Reduction of NOx is the purpose. You got me! I was wrong.
12/22/2006 7:33:49 PM
If I'm right, does that mean yo mama IS a stank ass ho?
12/22/2006 7:50:56 PM
