so i've been parking in the street directly in front of my house so that my roommates can have the other 3 parking spots (there are only 3 of us in the house). About a week ago I got a note on my car from the neighbors saying that I was blocking their mailbox and that if I parked there again I'd get towed. I think they may have reason to because there is no way i can park my car outside of 6ft from the driveways. If i park too close to ours Keith can't get out and if I park too close to theirs they can't get mail.So i started parking in the grass. It's really inconvenient because about 5 times out of 10 i spin my tires in the grass... and the angle i have to go into the driveway to get into the parking spot causes me to actually have to go up on the curb each time. I scrape about 90% of the time. Anyway...so the other day the neighbors parked so I couldn't get out at all. The way our driveway is situated I have to go IN our driveway and out theirs. They ended up blocking me in because there isnt enough traction for me to go backwards up the hill. This is only important because they ended up parking that car in the street where they told me not to park.Is the whole "i can get your shit towed" thing valid? I'm not sure about the rules or anything, I mean it IS Brent Rd. There is supposed to be no parking on the opposite side of the street but no one EVER listens to that. It's just stupid.

No, they can park in front of their own mailbox all they want, if they park in front of your though!!!!

where is the rule that says i can't park in front of their mailbox?i thought it was related to how close you are to driveways

Can't park in-front of any mailbox, blocks the postal carrier.

You are not allowed to block any mailbox period. I think there is something like a 5-6 foot rule.If it angers you that much, call it in and get them towed.

Why don't you just go knock on their door and tell them the situation? If they are dicks about it then have them towed. btw how come of you and your roommates you have to park on the street? Why don't you alternate or something?

If there's 3 of you in the house, and 3 spots...what's the problem?
12/17/2006 11:06:22 AM
they have 4 vehicles
12/17/2006 11:22:29 AM
if there's 3 ppl and 4 vehicles, then you should park the one vehicle that isn't used much in the grass. it won't move often and the 3 vehicles used often can park in the driveway where they are supposed to.i was with you up till you said you had to go in your driveway and out theirs. that means you are driving on their grass also to get to their driveway. basically you are screwed. find another spot on the road to park or follow my above advice.or get a car with 4wd so that you can get out of the grass the same way you got in.if you care about your grass, that grass won't be growing much longer if you continue to park on it.

park the one the you use the least on the grass. i had the same deal with my mail lady and the trash people, they didnt like my truck sitting close to the mailbox. so i still park my car on the side of the road but the truck goes up on the grass now since i dont drive it that often.but only if it is really blockin mailbox or somethign against the local rules like that. one time my neighbours across the road tried to tell me i had to move the truck because they have trouble backing up out of their drivway and turning around. i told them they better take a driver ed course.[Edited on December 17, 2006 at 11:44 AM. the mailbox thing is understandablethe postman/woman has prob left notes for THEM about YOUR carmy parents have unknowlingly blocked their own mailbox with a car on a few occasions and the mailman left notes or just didnt deliver the mail at all because they aren't required to if the box is blockedwork out a rotation with your roommates where someone has to park further away so you're not fucking shit up

if one of your roomates parks two cars in the parking lot them you're being walked all over.
12/17/2006 2:06:00 PM
i know right, tell them to take that other car down the street
12/17/2006 5:15:27 PM
Looks like i'm screwed eh?One of the cars that's parked in our driveway is ... well stuck. It's dead. Anyone want to buy a dead cadillac? The reason I ended up parking in the street was because that same guy's other car is a miata and the neighbors across the street from our house backed into it like 3 or 4 times and left dents and then claimed they didnt do it. It was clear that whoever hit the car had backed out of their driveway. So he decided he didnt want to park in the street anymore and made me do it.

1. Why don't you move the dead car to the spot that you can't get in and out of easily? Or, better yet, send it to the junkyard and get $100 for it. 2. No, they can't have your car towed in the street. I wouldn't be surprised if they fucked it up though.4. I've never heard of a law regarding parking in front of mailboxes. There is a law about parking within ~6 feet of a driveway which is usually where the mailbox sits. It annoys me that the postal workers won't get out of the Jeep to deliver the mail though. I guess it's just a sign of the times that they are a bunch of lazy fuckers now.[Edited on December 17, 2006 at 6:13 PM. Reason : . ]

we used to get notices from the mail carrier when i lived on crest road that said if people parked in front of our mail box they wouldn't deliver our mail. the people parking in front of it didn't live in our house, all we could do was leave a note on the cars explaining the situation.
