I can vouch for 205 Dunstan, 252, and 322 Kimler as being excellent history classes
12/15/2006 5:25:28 PM
It'd be taking a heavy load, so an easy class would be nice. But at the same time an interesting teacher would be great !!
12/15/2006 6:23:51 PM
HI 207 was a good class. I'd stick with that.
12/15/2006 7:19:10 PM

HI 207, Parker

nothing22 hates parker with a passion for some reason
12/16/2006 1:13:24 AM
U would not regret 364 it is easy as hell but also interesting. the best history ever, check the grade distribution

HI 322 - The Rise of Modern Science.Dr. Kimler is the most engaging and enthusiastic lecturer I've ever seen. Wonderful class.
12/16/2006 3:46:29 PM
^ I agree, and I'm not fond of history
12/17/2006 6:38:42 PM
parker, detreville, sack (if you don't find loud voices too abrasive) are good. parkers the most well known.riddle was decentPackman teaches grk310 (grk & roman mythology). Its taught in HA and is alot like a history course in set up, but more fun, if you are just going to fulfill an elective. (also jesseph for ancient philosophy or any history of philosophy class would be a good elective, and Dr Hunt for anything english).
12/17/2006 11:56:37 PM
i took HI 276 with kalinga (history of west africa)sucked
12/18/2006 12:32:10 AM
210 with Vincent was a good class.of course you have to go at 8am but if you really make an effort to go and scribble down names and dates for later studying you can easily make an A.midterm and final are not too bad either. you get to choose from a list what to write about and chances are you know a few of the choices.
12/18/2006 3:00:41 AM
12/18/2006 8:51:45 AM
i'd also recommend HI 215 with butlerwas enjoyable and easy

12/18/2006 7:25:22 PM
Hi 263, but its only offered fall. 264 is also really interesting but more difficult. moyer for 263 is a great guy, and if you show up to class (i didn't and got an A- for attendance) its an easy A+
12/18/2006 9:28:04 PM
207 w/ parker was awful. i sat in on his class during my "spend a day @ state" during HS and thought it would be cool, so 3 years later took his class. bad decisioncrisp is alright, i'm not sure what classes he teaches, i had him for the history seminar. he's easy going and gets off topic alot which causes some interesting discussions
12/19/2006 1:59:22 AM
321 with Riddle... great teacher
12/19/2006 2:26:35 AM
Dr. Parker is awful if your retarded....he gives you study guides for the tests for God's sake. no suprises at all in his class. not hard at all
12/19/2006 1:58:01 PM
^ Parker's study guides only help with terms you need to know. The "sample essay questions" on the study guides were completely different from the actual essay questions. And don't you dare forget to cite your primary sources multiple times.
12/19/2006 4:02:13 PM
^^agree about Riddle and HI321. Interesting class, great prof and he gives you all possible exam questions beforehand. Pretty easy grader too (but then I'm comparing him to some hardasses I had 12 years ago so ymmv). I took it DE, highly recommended as well.
12/19/2006 7:24:07 PM
^^if you go to the study sessions with the TA, she GIVES you the essay questionsit's not hard to predict them, either (know all your primary sources and you're golden)
12/20/2006 1:11:58 AM
my problem w/ parker wasn't his grading or tests, just that he preaches only what he thinks and not other opinions. also, did anyone count how many times he pointed to the cover of that atlas book and said "i dug that hole"
12/20/2006 2:36:30 AM
any class with Caddell. He was the man. Though he mainly teaches 3-400 level classes.

Pick a history you like and go with it. The more you like a history, the easier it will be to do assignments / study and earn the grade. I took History of US Technology (HI341) and Distance Education Ancient History (HI207) and enjoyed both immensely. Read some of the older School Tool reviews for instructors. Parker I can vouch has a very strong body language and expects everyone to have done the readings/be knowledgeable during class time. That being said, he has has a passion for teaching the subject and his tests pretty much come straight from the lectures.
