For those of you who had Novak for CH223 were you satisfied with your final grades? I'm not. Mine got curved to a C I believe but this definitely doesn't fit right since on every test I outscored the class average. I was hoping C+ or maybe a B, but come on . I know this stuff really well too, also pisses me off that a person can take an easy class (Wahl) and get an A+ where I can know the same stuff and get a C in Novak.

if you knew this stuff really well you wouldn't have to worry about being in C/B range

dont worry, it will help you out in the long run

what were your test grades with Novak? i had him for 221 and 223, and think the grade I got, curved, was fair.

that is why you should always check the grade distributions before you register for a class

well my lab partner was in wahls class and got an 80 something on the first test and our avg was a 54. thats how he can say that.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised at too big of a difference- not many people want to get up for Organic with Wahl at 8 am. Plus, he teaches 221, not 223- 223 is harder. I learned a lot more from Sandberg in 223 than I ever did in Wahl's class.[Edited on December 15, 2006 at 10:49 PM. Reason : .]

ThePeter is getting owned haha. I don't think you know it very well if you are getting such low grades. And besides, a curve is a curve man...without it you would of failed.

^Fuschia - One of my friends is in Wahl and I took a look at his exam and had discussions with him, I'm not about to makes BS claims .I know the material very well, did the webassigns by myself and then helped and explained problem/answers to others in my class. And yea, I just never put forth the effort to strictly memorize some reactions, but still, I outscored a friend significantly and still ended up with the same grade as her. I was looking for around C+/B- actually, I scored about 5-10 points over the test averages, 50's and 60's .I'm not saying I should've gotten a 'good' grade, just a better one!

If it helps, I got a C- and no, I'm not happy. Just as yourself, I thought I was on track for a C+. It doesn't mean much, but I've been that A B student since I was munching on fruit snacks in pre-school....even I would have been happy with that C+.Yes, we should have looked at grade distributions...because they DO show that other classes do better...and, assuming that Dr. Novak's class isn't somehow consistently made up of slackers, that means the other classes are easier. That doesn't mean you didn't work for your grade, you still gotta study, go to class, or maybe it's just the methods of instruction the professor uses, etc. But look at a few numbers. For example, in Fall semester '05 Wahl's class got 43% A's and B's and Novak's had 34% A's and B's...9% less. Looking at Spring Semester '06, Sandberg had a whopping 52% A's and B's...an 18% up on Novak's Fall '05 class.hrmmmmmm.....
