My lower seat heater element stopped working and I want to know if it's a bitch and a half to fix.

Can anyone copy the info so that I can see what I'm up against?

not too hard to replace, looks like the seat has to come out, but the element usually doesn't burn out, its usually either the thermostat or the high limit switch, each heater has a separate circuit, if you pull the selector switch out for the drivers side, you should have +12V on the white wire with the blue tracer with the lower heater on, i'll post the wiring diagram later

take the seat off, and its bare under the seat, so you can see all the motors and hopefully whatever else you are loooking for.

which model TL is it? type S or not?

i may be able to get you a used one from work.

^ i have a gut feeling its in the switch and not the heater, but still i think at least one of the motors has to come off to get the heater element all the way out of the cushion, been a while since i've done one and i have been trying to supress those memories

it's the 3.2 TL Premium, not the Type S(low).

if you can snatch a used one, that'd be awesome. then you can tell me how it came apart.

i wish it were the switch (that would be too easy), but the service tech on my acura forum mentioned that if the back pad works and the seat doesn't, it's most likely that the heating element is broken causing an open circuit (caused by running it on high a lot of the time).

it was the day that it 16degF that it stopped working. great day for freezing your ass off.

dealer quoted $250+ for one seat. imagine if both were broken.

i'm leaving town for a day and i'll have access to a garage and tools. i wanted to see if i could get some info before i go so that i can take the seat apart with some reference. unless it's really easy and i can play it by ear. does anyone know if i need any replacement parts other than the new seat pad (if it's that) or does it all go back together nicely?

that's why i'll never consider getting a rover.

even if i were super rich, i couldn't in good conscience pay that much to repair a seat.
