http://www.stadiumsofnfl.com/future/CowboysStadium.htmThis is what the original plans for a new Cowboy's stadium was going to look like.
12/13/2006 2:12:21 PM
Took a look at the pics, Jones is copying off European soccer stadiums.
12/13/2006 2:12:37 PM
New stadium looks bad ass, but do they really need a new one? Serious question, I've never been to a Cowboys game. Also if I was a taxpayer in Arlington, I would not be too happy about having to pay 1/3 of a 1 billion stadium.I read an article about the new Cardinals stadium in ESPN the mag and that stadium is the shit. I love how the field rolls out of the dome so they can have a real grass field inside a dome and in the middle of the desert.
12/13/2006 2:18:12 PM
60 yard fucking scoreboardwowie wowie wow /borat

damn, I wonder how long it will take to pay this off and start making profit again....or is that even a problem
12/13/2006 2:29:59 PM
he just wants to out do the giants new stadium
12/13/2006 2:45:02 PM
how many times will a punt hit the scoreboard do you think
12/13/2006 2:45:41 PM
I wonder if they're using the same guys who built/hung the first scoreboard in the Charlotte Coliseum
12/13/2006 2:54:45 PM
Take away the gaudy scoreboard and the endzone openings and it reminds me of the new Wembley Stadium.http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/united_kingdom/england/london/london_wembley.shtmlNothing beats the Beijing Olympic Stadium in gaudiness, tho:http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_menu/past_future/pictures/future_stadiums/beijing_olympic.shtml[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 2:56 PM. I think the scoreboard/videoboard looks ugly. One board blocks the other one. It would be annoying as hell looking at that all game. Then again, the big money spenders probably have a straight shot at the board so I guess it doesn't matter.
12/13/2006 3:30:29 PM
This stadium is not even that old. Sounds like Jerry Jones just has Penis envy of the new Giants stadium that has been getting approval. its supposed to cost around a billion as well, but it is an entire complexe with shopping areas and a HOF, courtyards, etc.
12/13/2006 3:50:17 PM
Hey, tis ok guys. The residents of Arlington are gonna pony up 1/3 of the money.
12/13/2006 3:53:13 PM
By the way, something tells me that scoreboard thing isn't going to work. It looks rediculous and a punt could definitely hit it. It just seems silly. Also the scoreboards on either side of it look tacky. other than that, the stadium looks pretty awesome. I look forward to watching the Giants spank them in it when its finished.
12/13/2006 3:55:08 PM
^^^Texas Stadium is old as hell, 35 years old, as a matter of factand this is like brackets [old]but yeah, the Cowboys and Jones will spare no expense - this has been in the works for awhile, and now the recent success they've had gives them the chance to really get the ball rolling on the new ballpark again[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 3:59 PM. People are so stupid. How in the hell they convinced the people of Arlington to pony up $333 million is beyond me.I cant believe people actually fall for the "but look at all the revenue it will bring in!!!" arguments. That shit was disproven a LONG time ago by people who actually conduct research and understand economic principles. The gains for a select few will be made off the backs of the other idiots that voted for the proposal. That's gonna be a bad ass stadium though.

Are you sure these aren't the plans for the next Carter Finley?
12/13/2006 4:06:03 PM
why cant they build a 100,000 seat stadium?i mean im all for a brand new cool ass stadium for the giantsbut i mean i wanna be able to buy a ticket for a game for less moneyi dunnowho decided that 80,000 fans was like the nfl limit?
12/13/2006 4:06:24 PM
The Yankees of football.
12/13/2006 4:12:22 PM
without all the success
12/13/2006 4:12:59 PM
i hate the cowboys, but you'd kinda have to consider Dallas, SF and Pitt as the "Yankees of Football" based on #s of Superbowlscourse I'm not as familiar with the world championships before the Superbowl
12/13/2006 4:15:02 PM
Possibly by titles, but the steelers don't have the kind of money the Yankees do.Based on $$$ the "Yankees of football" would be the Cowboys and Redskins.
12/13/2006 4:25:02 PM
12/13/2006 6:28:25 PM
it's got some cool features and all, like the field level club seats, but the designs throughout are fucking ugly.
12/13/2006 6:48:25 PM
Texas Stadium is a faux-domehaving been to a Thanksgiving Game there a few years ago and having gone to multiple panther games, personally I like Bank of America Stadium betterthe faux-dome is kinda dingy and when i was there they desperately needed new video screens

^^^^"On the morning of the day the Coliseum was to host its first event, the multi-million dollar scoreboard was destroyed when it crashed to the floor. It also destroyed the basketball court it landed on."Imagine if it fell that night.
12/13/2006 7:09:54 PM
12/13/2006 7:53:05 PM
^^ haha i always wondered if that had ever happened beforei wonder what that sounded like
12/13/2006 7:54:17 PM
If a massive suspended scoreboard's cables break, causing it to smash into a basketball court, and no one is around to hear it...does it make a sound?
12/13/2006 7:59:22 PM
I DON'T KNOW
12/13/2006 8:02:47 PM
That bunker club looks sweeeeeet.
12/13/2006 8:12:41 PM
The field level suites will probably be a disaster. People found this out when the Petersen Events Center was built for the Pitt Panthers. The people in the suites couldn't see over the benches, media tables and what not unless they stood the entire time. I think they had to do some rearranging just to make the money that you spent on them seem somewhat reasonable.[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 8:41 PM. Reason : ]

^^^^^^I don't think the goal of new stadiums is always to get the most people in. They don't want prices to be lowered for their fans, more expensive tickets and more demand is better. They can charge for things like seat liscenses etc.Plus the money is in the luxury boxes and when they are built they take away from regular seating.[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 8:40 PM.
