^^ my highschool gf went to tulsa university, and i went to see her there a few times. I was amazed at the number of hanson fans (and appalled). Tulsa is one weird place, its like a giant vanilla wafer, except kind of old and stale.

I think it's actually alot like Raleigh (just without Durham and Chapel Hill). There's a really great hot dog place downtown and the minor league (is that what they call it?) hockey is fun and cheap (and occasionally you'll see good players that have been sent down from or that are about to be brought up to the NHL). Oh, and reservation owned casinos, if you like that kind of thing.

If you value your sanity or umm...culture...you will stay away from Tulsa. There's giant praying bronze hands as you enter, enough said.My cousins, aunt, uncle, and grandparents moved there 5 years ago. My grandma told me she's never been more depressed and that it's "Such an ugly state."FYI, grandparents are moving to raleigh in a year.

have them fly you there for an interview, with a day to see the town. if they really want you they'll do it.

If you spell it backwards you get "A Slut" which is uncommon with most cities

I grew up in Tulsa. It's a VERY religion driven town, with an unusually high number of major televangelists based there with their megachurches and what-not. If you've seen Borat, the church scene is dead-on what most of these churches are, only scale up the audience to about two to three thousand people. Culturally, it's dead. There are a couple of small art museums that mostly specialize in Western art, cowboys and shit. Major concerts are nonexistent. There aren't really any good unique restaurants besides the usual chains.Visit and really spend some time there before you commit. While American Airlines is a good employer, it might not be worth the trade-off of living in a town like that.Edit: Forgot about the Oilers (minor league hockey) and the Drillers (baseball). Those games were always fun to go to, especially the Oilers.[Edited on December 9, 2006 at 7:45 PM. Reason : .]
