550i has a 4.8 liter335 has a 3 liter ( i know its turbo but turbos =/= .5 liter)i liked it better when the number had the displacement in it k thanks

I didn't know they had any current documentation that states the model names reflect engine displacement...
12/5/2006 1:00:14 PM
hahaha they're not really liars i just like the original naming convention
12/5/2006 1:03:17 PM
they used to
12/5/2006 1:03:28 PM
I was kinda being sarcastic...glad you picked up on that..../sarcasm
12/5/2006 1:06:24 PM
typical garage posters do not have sarcasm they have sandy manginas
12/5/2006 1:10:04 PM
It's been inaccurate on tons of models for a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time
12/5/2006 1:12:13 PM
Since we're on the topic, Mercedes doesn't follow the rule every time anymore either (example: S 600 is 5.5L V12 TT)
12/5/2006 1:12:44 PM
Ford started it all, with their "5.0" Mustangs, which were really barely 4.9....
12/5/2006 2:43:06 PM
e30 325 have 2.7
12/5/2006 2:48:10 PM
an e30 325i is actually a 2.5 now if you stroke it you can make it a 2.7an e30 325e on the other hand is infact a 2.7[Edited on December 5, 2006 at 4:46 PM. Reason : i vs e]

12/5/2006 4:54:25 PM

12/5/2006 5:27:34 PM

12/5/2006 5:42:29 PM
not to mention 6 series.
12/5/2006 5:43:23 PM
there are a lot of bmws that dont follow the ruleold 745i = 3.5l turbo540 = 4.4lnew 328 = 3.0l323 = 2.5lnew 325 = 3.0l
12/5/2006 6:14:46 PM
man i thought that was engine displacement. liars!
12/5/2006 6:26:36 PM
MBs are the worst offenders when it comes to this.I wish they still followed the convention, but if they did, then model names would change every 2-3 years, so, the best naming scheme is one that doesn't rely on engine displacements (see Audi as a very good example).
