Super rare VU LP was found in NYC and was bought for 75 cents. Im guessing bidding is going to go past $50,000,000.start hitting up the yard sales folks.

you're off by a factor of 1000
12/2/2006 2:50:24 PM
^hahaha. i was about to disagree with you, but then i read the original post.
12/2/2006 2:52:41 PM
please tell me you meant to say $50k
12/2/2006 2:58:01 PM
I don't know what this is, but they should rip it and release it on the net if it's as important as that auction makes it seem.
12/2/2006 3:03:56 PM
It was $25,000 when I looked at it last night. The auction doesn't even end for 6 more days; should be pretty absurd.
12/2/2006 3:05:24 PM
^^that would be incredibly stupid. part of the value of this is that no one has these recordings. the high bidder will likely sell a digital copy to some sort of record label or release themselves (for big bucks i would imagine)this thing's already at $37,000 and there's still almost a week on the auction.[Edited on December 2, 2006 at 3:06 PM. 12/3/2006 10:04:43 AM
^^^^ Since I can't afford this acetate, I'll take the Epiphone Coronet from the picture...or maybe that bizarre-ass baritone SG.
12/3/2006 10:41:10 AM

12/3/2006 12:28:34 PM

you can get lathe-cut acetates printed overseas fairly easily without any worry of copyright. it is totally possible to make a copy of a record like this and have it look/sound almost identical. you'd still have to get your hands on the original to do something like that, though.
12/3/2006 4:30:09 PM
It's gone over $100,000
12/3/2006 4:45:22 PM
12/4/2006 12:21:15 AM
I won't lieI have no idea -- NONE -- why this is worth more than $.05
12/4/2006 1:16:17 AM
read the ebay description, noting that this velvet underground album was one of the most important rock albums of the sixties.
12/4/2006 1:18:17 AM
if it was that important, wouldn't they have made more than one copy?
12/4/2006 9:41:58 AM
reading is key.

12/11/2006 12:43:46 PM
auctions been relisted... think they would have learned their lesson that you really can't sell high priced stuff on ebay. why they haven't just taken it to christie's or sotheby's i don't know
12/15/2006 10:51:38 PM
it's at $20,000 now w/ 3 days left. i wonder if they buyer will hold onto it for a little while and then just resell at a real auction house like ^ suggested
