or we can all not do them so we'll keep the old system that isnt broken and get to waste time in class on them rather than on our own timehow about that?

did mine todaytook under 2 minutes - quicker to type than write it out with a crappy golf pencil
12/2/2006 12:59:09 PM
^ and I'd rather have more time to review for the final.

I personally don't care whether its online or in-class, but I like the fact they are piloting out the concept.

whew my typing was really bad this morning! must have needed more coffee.
12/2/2006 6:38:28 PM
i did mine today

my only complaint with online evaluation is that i don't feel like it's really anonymous. i mean, i usually don't write anything that harsh, but if i DID want to, i'd feel less inclined online.otherwise, it's been good. i had an online eval for my fls class and my st 370 class (st i expected b/c it's a online class).

^ Instructors don't get the results until months later. Be as mean as you want.
12/3/2006 11:10:45 PM
i've definitely been as mean and as nice as i've wanted to be
12/3/2006 11:26:08 PM
^^ dont care, i still want it to be anon and i'm worried that's broken now since it's all tied to an ID/login. I filled them out but i think i may write to the folks in charge that the ID tie system kind of isn't cool.
12/3/2006 11:28:35 PM
It would be nice if I would ever get to read the evaluations that my students fill out about me, but in my entire time being a lab instructor I haven't once been able to read a single one.
12/4/2006 12:26:39 AM
^^ That information isn't avaliable to the instructors and I doubt that it's avaliable to the folks at ITD who run the forms. All the instructors get is a printout in their mail box with some summary statistics and any written comments typed out with zero indication of who wrote them. The way these reports are given to professors isn't changing.
12/4/2006 12:02:06 PM
I've known instructors who could identify the handwriting of at least some their students. Typing looks like typing.

If rules/regulations are followed properly, 99.9% of the time, you won't have access to student data without explicit permission/authorization to do so. When I did some research and worked with student data, all I saw were numbers (1, 2, etc.) representing the students, not student names/IDs/logins/etc.One thing I think I'll like about the online system is the ability to write comments in greater detail.
