http://westvirginia.scout.com/2/596569.htmlHoly fucking shit. $3M/yr. Christ. NO college coach should make that much. I don't blame him for leaving his alma mater for that.[Edited on December 1, 2006 at 7:17 PM. Reason : x]

daaaamn that is a lot of money.
12/1/2006 7:17:12 PM
Apparently he went on TV in WVa fucking pissed off and said that he will coach the rest of his career at WVU if they would have him. The way this article and the ESPN report I heard earlier sounded this was a sure deal.. now I'm not so sure after hearing how pissed off he was at this report. He was literally screaming into the microphone.[Edited on December 1, 2006 at 7:21 PM. Reason : he, not I]
12/1/2006 7:19:22 PM
that would just be an idiotic move, except for the money part
12/1/2006 7:32:46 PM
yeah, he'd have to win a national title at bama every two seasons to keep them cocksuckers happy
12/1/2006 7:34:34 PM
To go further on ^^^ - From one of the WVU boards:"I will do my best to sumarize. He called into Sportsline, stating that he was at Lakeview with the team when he got a tearful call from Rita asking if he knew what they were saying about him and the Alabama job.He was so enraged that he could hardly talked. He stated that he had not talked or negotiated with Alabama. That he was totally focused on getting ready for Rutgers and recruiting for WVU. That it was irresponsible journalism and that it could be harmful to the recruits that would be here tomorrow. He stated that he planned to be the coach at WVU as long as we would have him.It is hard to discribe the aggitation that he exhibited, but it certainly did not sound like a man counting the money for his next job."

well, for a college football coach it doesnt get bigger than Bama ($3 mil helps too), then he isnt going anywhere
12/1/2006 8:12:54 PM
I love this headline:"Bama to decide on Rodriguez within 3 days"I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Rodriguez that makes the decision.
12/6/2006 9:03:18 PM
i couldn't have imagine him ever leaving Morgantown; he's a god up therebut money talks, as alwaysand alabama, regardless of recent history, is still a top-five college program imho
12/6/2006 9:05:29 PM
maybe I'm biased because I followed WVU growing up because of my grandpa who is an alum and a die hard mountaineer fan as well as a west virginia native. But, I think that WVU is a good program and always has been. Sure, alabama was once the shit, but that is over now. WVU has the chance to write it's own place in the history books and has just as much of a chance at being a perennial top 5 as alabama does. Not to mention the fans fucking love him and are some of the best fans in the nation. Plus, like it was said before, the expectations aren't nearly as high. Oh, and did I mention he's a former player for wvu? It just seems like a no-brainer to me.
12/6/2006 9:42:17 PM
i couldn't imagine leaving my alma mater for more money.
12/6/2006 10:22:58 PM
^until they hand you a piece of paper with that many zeros on it
12/6/2006 10:24:47 PM
^ still. it could be argued that i care more about my alma mater than many, but still.
12/6/2006 10:25:58 PM
why would any coach wanna leave the big east to go get pounded every saturday in the sec
12/6/2006 10:59:02 PM
Bama would have to hire Amato to have a shitty season next year. They're on the right track and fucking retarded for firing Shula. I'd love to see Rodriguez go; he'd easily capitalize on next season's potential and build a nearly unstoppable program from there.
12/6/2006 11:18:01 PM
i approve of Rich
12/6/2006 11:18:47 PM
i approve as well
12/6/2006 11:23:39 PM
Bama offered him. This should be interesting. If he accepts Bama won't win a SEC Championship or NC and he will be gone in 3-4 years... I can't imagine walking away from your alma mater and hometown with Slaton and White with 2 years left but $$$ talks..[Edited on December 7, 2006 at 2:56 PM. Reason : x]
12/7/2006 2:55:28 PM
college football and basketball is just getting gay.
12/7/2006 3:15:58 PM
he could just be playing it like spurrier did. He really didnt dismiss talks of going to miami to coach until AFTER South Carolina offfered him that raise. He is waiting to see what WVU might put out there.
12/7/2006 3:23:54 PM
^True.I think he's going to stay at W. Virginia, if he knows what's good for him.

Offer downgraded per WJOX in birmingham to $2.1 mil
12/7/2006 5:09:42 PM
just heard on ATH that Saban turned down a 5yr $25 million contract offer from Bama plus a $5-$7 million signing bonus
12/7/2006 5:48:48 PM
Maybe next year Alabama can put some $$$ into that whole poverty thing instead of a football coach..
12/7/2006 5:49:42 PM
^ Haha, I like that, you couldn't have said that any better5 million+ a year for a college coach is ridiculous.... my goodness
12/7/2006 5:52:01 PM
Apparently he is the new coach at Bama officially. Hopefully when White/Slaton are graduated he realizes that he should cut each one a nice check because they made him a very rich man...
12/7/2006 5:57:39 PM
SportsCenter just opened with "reportedly, Rich going Alabama..."But check this: there's a $2 mil PENALTY if Rich leaves before next August, which I assume Bama would pick up. They must really love this guy.And yeah, he owes his power duo BIGTIME.
12/7/2006 6:03:04 PM
that buyout... WOW
12/7/2006 6:03:36 PM
Well gentlemen. It appears that money talks and bullshit walks.
