so... yeah soak it in? That all depends, you will get tired of it after about 4 days. You will sleep little and party a lot. I say 4 or 5 days tops. I usually go for 2 or 3 weeks but I grew up there and have family etc there. AS far as hotels... my mom works at the MGM and Wynn. My favorits place to stay is the Venetian. Every room is a suite. AS far as things to do... that depends on you. Do you like shows? if so, are you into magic, dance, song, etc. You like to see art? great food and atmosphere? to drink and dance? IT has actually been cold in Vegas, my mom said today was in the 30's but she is always cold. Not sure if this helps but eh

Ok, so I don't post here often, but I've been to vegas a few times and LV2state is right. Any more than 5 days is probably gonna be too much. As far as where to stay, any of the newer strip casinos should be great. I've stayed @ the Trop and didn't care for it (way too old) and I've stayed @ the Rio and it was great. If money isn't an issue, I'd stay @ either Wynn, Bellagio, or Venetian. As far as things to do -- it depends on what you like. Remember that you're there for vacation so relax and have fun. If you don't gamble much, just go around and look at the different casinos and the free shows (e.g. the fountain in front of Bellagio @ night, the volcano @ the Mirage, etc.) Every major casino has regular shows that you have to pay for too -- I've never been to one but heard they are pretty cool -- they can be expensive though.Eat well. Get a massage. Go to a club (if you like that stuff). Gamble. Remember you're on vacation and it's more important that you relax and have fun rather than trying to see and do everything you possible can in the short time that you're there.

thanks so much...yeah i can't afford the nicer hotels, thus i'm sticking with the $60 ones.....don't gamble much but will do so anyways since its vegas....definitely want to get a spa, check out the shows, just relax and eat.....check out whatever other sights and sounds...oh yeah and the free shows
11/30/2006 10:50:21 PM
pick up some 1/2 price tickets to see The Amazing Jonathan. Good stuff
11/30/2006 10:53:20 PM
speaking of which, what's the best way to buy tickets...purchase ahead of time before i go or wait and get good deals while i am there
11/30/2006 10:55:13 PM
unless it's for the most popular show on a weekend, wait until the day of and hit up this placehttp://www.tix4tonight.com
11/30/2006 10:57:24 PM
Ok, knowing that, I'd still recommend staying on the strip if at all possible (although you might have to pay more than $60/night). Also, you probably want to go from Mon - Fri or something like that so that you avoid the higher room rates on the weekends. Doing a quick look on expedia, it looks like you can do a decent package for less than $400/person (assuming you're going w/ at least one other person) if you go Mon - Fri and are willing to take a red-eye on the way back. Also, if you go during the week, the table stakes will be lower @ the strip casinos (e.g. you'll be able to find blackjack tables w/ $10 or $15 minimum bets as opposed to $25 being the lowest bets on the weekends).
11/30/2006 11:03:34 PM
yeah i am going mon - fri...red eye exactly!so the hotels i ca nget around $50-$70/night on the strip are Luxor, NYNY, or Monte Carlo.
11/30/2006 11:35:37 PM
Cool deal! Put $100 on red for me ;-) Anyways, hope you enjoy the trip and good luck!

I stayed at the MGM last time which I liked. Fatwallet had a pretty nice deal last xmas for 69/night plus food comps, so you may want to check there. If you don't gamble I would suggest staying 4-5 nights. I saw Lance Burton last time, but I preferred Penn and Teller. I would also recommend you see Cirque Du Soleil. There are a lot of free things to see too. Pretty much each hotel has an attraction, penguins, flamingos, lions, etc. Definately go see the fountains. There are some really good buffets you should definately try. The lunch one at MGM was good as well as the dinner on at Paris. Also pick up one of those books in the first cab ride you take. They usually have good deals. Try to pick a hotel in the middle of the stip or you'll have a lot of walking to do. Play the penny slots and get wasted if you are on a tight budget.

when the hooker tells you to go clean up in the bathroom, bring your wallet in there with you.jki stayed at the monte carlo, it was nice, but the MGM seemed better to me, cause it had a lot of night life right there and it was right at the connection to both monorails (for some reason the monorail switches sides of the street right there and you have to walk about a mile or so to pick it up going south). But you can take it both ways there (same i guess for ny, ny). Check out a map to see what i'm talking about.[Edited on December 1, 2006 at 10:38 AM. Reason : s]
