11/29/2006 9:54:13 PM
Same as a town car, bigger than crown vic I believe.

i could be wrong, but i though thunderbird and mark iii were a rwd, while continental is fwd.i think all of them were unibody though, crown vic/towncar lineup being only one with body-on-the-frame

To set all this straight--first of all, the car has more than 217 HP, more like 260 I believe. It's the DOHC 32v 4.6 V8.As to the platform, Igor is closest to the mark here. The Conti of these years actually rides a heavily modified Taurus platform (FWD), but shares basically nothing else with the Taurus. The engine is the same as in the Mark VIII, but in a slightly lower tune (has something to do with the FWD transaxle I think). Air suspension like all Lincolns of that era. It is unibody. (And the Mark VIII and T-bird were both RWD, very similar but not idential platforms--VIII was FN10, 'bird/cougar were MN12.)$5K is a shade high, but the car looks to be in good shape, should get over 4k easy.
