I'm pretty sure I lost my speeding ticket, and I was wondering is anyone else has been in this situation before. If so, did you go somewhere to get a copy of it, or did you just go to court without one?
11/27/2006 8:01:54 PM
just send them a check for 140 bucks and forget about it
11/27/2006 8:03:17 PM
lots of optionscall the courthouselook it up onlinewait 2 weeks after you got it - you will receive a lot of letters in the mail (to the address on your license) - call one of them to find out the relevant info you need
11/27/2006 8:03:46 PM
what county was it in? did highway patrol or local write the ticket?
11/27/2006 8:05:34 PM
i've been to court a number of times without my ticket. assuming it was a uniform nc citation, the court will have a copy of it. that's all that matters, your copy is just for your records.
11/27/2006 8:07:11 PM
It was actually here on campus...damn campus police don't have anything better to do than give out tickets on Sullivan.
11/27/2006 8:07:28 PM
go to public safety office and get a copy?
11/27/2006 8:08:11 PM
campus police should be fucking executed.
11/27/2006 8:09:37 PM
you gotta be retarded to speed past the public safety building
11/27/2006 8:10:13 PM
I appreciate the advice...I think i'll check around and see if I can get a copy, but sounds like I can go to court without it.also-- If I send in a check do I also need to send the copy of the ticket? I guess it doesn't really matter but I feel a little weird just mailing out a check in an envelope. I feel like I should at least send a note that says what the money is for.
11/27/2006 8:10:49 PM
what was the ticket for, it makes a huge difference on how you should handle it
11/27/2006 8:11:30 PM
who would you mail the check to? dont you need the info from the ticket.
11/27/2006 8:11:44 PM
ps-- I truely am retarded for getting this ticket. I got my first ticket at the exact spot about 2 years ago. I'm a speed demon--both of my tickets were for clocking in at 37.
11/27/2006 8:13:09 PM
I don't know...I was planning on looking the address up on the courthouse website and hoping the site said where to mail checks?
11/27/2006 8:14:33 PM
get a lawyer, get it reduced, it'll cost around 300-400 altogether, but you will save that much in insurance in a year, and no points on your license, i just got a 97 in a 70 reduced to an improper muffler, $385 out the door[Edited on November 27, 2006 at 8:15 PM. Reason : and you dont have to show up to court]
11/27/2006 8:15:18 PM
so are campus cop tickets like real cop tickets? seems silly.37 in a 25? i wouldnt even get a lawyer, i bet you could talk to the DA and get it reduced yourself. WAIT I see you got a ticket in the same spot in the past, that pretty well fucks you. what happened that time? you just pay that one off too?
11/27/2006 8:19:44 PM
I know--I should definitely get a lawyer...but I just don't have that much $$ to spend right now (esp. around Christmas). This is my 2nd ticket and I've never been in an accident or have anything else on my driving record, so I feel like I might be able to get it reduced without hiring a lawyer. It was only 12 over so it isn't much of a stretch to make it 9 over I would think. Plus, there's always my prayer for judgement...
11/27/2006 8:20:29 PM
campus police are officially a precinct of rpd, so yes, actually they have more liberal rights as far as warrants for searching property is concernded
11/27/2006 8:21:28 PM
I know it looks really bad...it's the freakin' hill down Sullivan. Last time I went to court and had it reduced to 9 over. As far as I know it hasn't affected my insurance (my parents take care of it for me, and they definitely would have told me).
11/27/2006 8:22:07 PM
dont waste your PJC on this, you may really need it sometime in the future. i would get this continued, when they start talking about your new court date being about a month from this one, mention to them that you are going to be studying abroad for 6 weeks and get them to bump it 2 months... by then you can afford a lawyer.[Edited on November 27, 2006 at 8:23 PM. Reason : your first one wont hit insurance]
11/27/2006 8:23:31 PM
^^^i thought they were technically state troopers? or at least that's their training?^^call up james crouch. he'll get it dropped or at least reduced to the point it doesn't matter. ~300 bucks max.[Edited on November 27, 2006 at 8:24 PM. Reason : .]
11/27/2006 8:24:15 PM
Who is this James Crouch fellow? I assume he's a lawyer you used. I could handle 300.
11/27/2006 8:27:06 PM
if they are troopers, they must be the HP rejects. like the NC version of super troopers. "what happened to you farva?" "well i choked the kid at dimpus burger so they demoted me to NCSU campus cop."
11/27/2006 8:27:20 PM
contrary to popular belief they are not shp, they are rpd rejects[Edited on November 27, 2006 at 8:52 PM. Reason : and capitol special police rejects]

11/27/2006 9:06:59 PM
^yep
11/27/2006 9:26:23 PM
sounds good. I'll look him up. Thanks for the help guys.
11/27/2006 9:32:47 PM
Adams, Portnoy & Bergen, PLLC, Traffic Ticket Lawyers, Raleigh, NC$250 for my reduction to 9 under, so no insurance points from a 58 in a 40. Call em up if you're still looking around, the secretary was really nice and explained what I could do or needed to do.
11/28/2006 1:33:47 AM
^that means he didn't do anything for you. They almost always reduce to 9 over. Even my brothers 23 over was reduced to 9 over with just asking.
