And that's why you don't walk on a frozen lake. That guy needs a vacation after that.
11/25/2006 4:27:18 PM
Those two should have a survive-off.
11/25/2006 4:44:12 PM
survivorman imitationplus, he has a whole camera crew with him, survivorman is all alone
11/25/2006 4:46:39 PM
SurvivorMan ftw.
11/25/2006 4:53:11 PM
Survivorman would kill this guy with his bare hands, then use his body as a raft to sail across the Atlantic Ocean.
11/25/2006 4:57:38 PM
Les is more (than Bear)
11/25/2006 5:00:15 PM
yea canadians suck, but not nearly as much as the english
11/25/2006 5:06:56 PM
I find it impossible to believe that RachelMarie would advocate "This guy puts Survivor Man to shame". Clearly someone hacked her t-dub account with malicious intent to slander her good name.
11/25/2006 5:12:52 PM
puts survivorman to shame??AHAHAHHAHAAHAman vs. wild dude is a joke. total fraud
11/25/2006 6:11:55 PM
motherfucker ate a snake
11/25/2006 6:33:59 PM
11/25/2006 6:36:12 PM
show is very good. I still think survivor man is good and informative. I like both
11/25/2006 7:02:12 PM
11/25/2006 7:03:13 PM
survivorman ftw, he goes it alone. unlike bear (and his film crew) versus wild
11/25/2006 7:13:46 PM
yeah, Survivorman FTW, Man vs. Wild is a fucking jokethe only worthwhile thing I've seen him do is use some vines to rappel down a waterfall, other than that its worthless
11/25/2006 7:28:07 PM
11/25/2006 8:51:05 PM
if you stay there and try to fend off the jungle you're dead as well.
11/25/2006 9:01:14 PM
i gotta give props to RachelMarie for even knowing who these cats are lets make babies
11/25/2006 9:10:05 PM
11/26/2006 9:49:51 AM
You got a good point theresurvivorman ftw
11/26/2006 10:22:55 AM
all i know is Bear pissed on his shirt and then wrapped it around his face to stay cool. Fraud or not that was disgusting
11/26/2006 11:52:48 AM
Les Stroud would make a crossbow out of a shoelace, two sticks, and a bicycle spoke, and shoot Bear in the jugular from atop his perch in the forest canopy. He could survive for months on the remains.
11/26/2006 3:22:06 PM
Les is a real-world gilligan's island Professor
11/26/2006 4:25:27 PM
11/26/2006 4:44:09 PM
survivorman shoots his own stuff, man vs wild has a camera crew
11/26/2006 6:17:19 PM
In some environments, there may not be any sticks to scavenge.
11/26/2006 6:27:46 PM
Survivor man is Ok. What I'm digging is Everest: Beyond on the Limits but I'm a mountaineer myself. This year was the worst year on Everest since 1996 when Jon Krakauer wrote about that cluster-fuck in Into Thin Air. So I'm kinda curious to see how the series develops.

i think of myself as an old school man- i play with guns, i backpack, fix cars, fix houses myself, i canoe, fish, etc. bear grylls makes me feel like i have a vagina.
12/27/2006 9:22:07 PM

I've been watching both these shows from the beginning and have the following thoughts:First off, and don't kill me, I think Bear knows a bit more and is better at doing some of the survival things. He seems to be able to fish and hunt with a bit more luck than Les (However I have a tiny suspicion that some of the stuff that Bear runs into is just a little too coincidental...like the horse and the rabbit in that episode). Whereas Les' traps and things don't always work, and it's often difficult for him to start fire (although that is part of what appeals to me, its a bit more real)...he often has an expert help him for a while before his survival time. Les is sometimes more resourceful too...I remember watching the arctic episode of Man vs. Wild and thinking for 20 minutes, "MAKE SOME DAMN SNOW SHOES", and probably thought that because I saw Les do it right away.I also think that Bear does a lot of things that look really cool, but some are completely unnecessary. I DID like him jumping in the frozen lake and also jumping off the "cliff" earlier in that episode to show how those knots on the string worked (because I didn't believe it would). But he quite often will climb up a waterfall or something, saying its the fastest way, when there's probably some stairs just 10 feet away or something. It's like he has a giant hill to go down so he says, "Well the best way to go down, and coolest looking, is to just run and jump really high, so here I go!" (see the hill in the volcano episode).Lastly though, I like the format of Les' show (7 days), where Bear just has to get somewhere...and Les has to deal with a whole lot more shit with all that equipment. So I am a bigger fan of Survivorman

climbing up a waterfall, jumping off cliffs, all the stuff Bear does would be risky to the point of suicidal if he were actually stranded in the wild. I prefer Survivorman ]
12/28/2006 1:41:46 PM
Bear does stage his stuff. In the Sierra episode he stays mostly by the Shuteye road, though, he's kinda all over the place in that episode rather than going from A to B. I kinda imagine he jumps out of a freezing river and into an RV and then talks with the crew about what crazy stunt they can pull next.

what bugged me about jumping into the ice water is that he had very visible holes made in the ice for him to grab on to in which pull himself out with.
1/22/2007 4:20:37 PM
I liek the one where Bear gets stranded on an island. Bitch jumps out of a helicopter a few miles away from land and swims in. He is pretty awesome, his scenarios are a little more plausible but they are both good shows.
1/22/2007 4:35:51 PM
his shit is all completely planned out thoughhe has a crewhe has a planits obvious he knows exactly where he is going, how to get there, and what to expect along the waynone of that is very plausible in a real survival situation[Edited on January 22, 2007 at 4:38 PM. Reason : /]
1/22/2007 4:38:04 PM
He has a cameraman.
1/22/2007 4:38:53 PM
i love man vs. wild!
1/22/2007 5:04:40 PM
im a bigger fan of survivorman... but most every thing in man v wild is plausibleand in the water episode he doesn't have hand holds pre made .... those are footprints he digs out and pulls himself up on.
1/22/2007 5:30:11 PM
I don't care what you say, Bear is pretty fucking hardcore to do this.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vlEavUH9ngI think I would rather die of thirst.Someone embed this shit, no pun intended.

I always felt that I learned a bit more from Man v Wild. Plus after that volcano episode, that's one twisted situation to be in. I was all freaked out that at any moment in time the guy would fall through the rock and into liquid mamgma. Then again, both of these guys are freaking nuts.
2/28/2007 2:05:29 PM
when are they gonna come out with new episodes?
2/28/2007 3:42:51 PM
bear is the shit favorite show right now
