it uses a pcmcia slot in your notebook

^^ all laptops have sound integrated in the motherboard.

you can disable the onboard and use this PCMCIA if you want.

does the sound card come with the cable that plugs into the center jack?

also, by "optical in" does that mean it accepts fiber-optic cable?


basically, i have a "surround-ready" set of speakers, but no receiver and i want surround sound for my xbox, which only has optical out.

would this let me use my laptop as a surround receiver for my xbox?
